Sub: Panel Discussion on Gerontology:  A Multidisciplinary Approach


According to the United Nations Organization, the population of elderly persons is the growing rapidly around the world and the number of elderly people by 2050 will be close to 2 billion. However, this section of populace faces numerous medical and psychological problems that need utmost care, attention and thoughtfulness. Hence, nobody could deny that there is an emerging need to pay superior attention to ageing-related issues and to promote holistic policies and programmes for dealing with this ageing society.


With this background, the Department of Social Work of our college has taken the initiative of organizing a Panel Discussion on Gerontology:  A Multidisciplinary Approach on September 28, 2015 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm at our college. The thrust of discussion will be on the issues faced by aged people, elderly care and protection. The panelists include a Psychiatric Social Worker; a Physician specialized in Geriatric care, a Care Giver from a Non-governmental organization working for aged, and a Geriatric Nurse. The target participants include students of Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, professionals involved in geriatric care and any individuals interested in the care of grey population.


In this regard, we are glad to invite you and appreciate your participation and presence for this event. A registration fee of Rs.100/- would be charged per participant. All the participants will be awarded certificates.
