Hi colleagues,
I am co-organizing a workshop about video-sharing platforms at CHI’23. Video-sharing and live-streaming platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch are getting increasingly popular among the public, especially the young generation. We seek to discuss mis/disinformation on such video-sharing platforms. Other topics include the problematic monetization behaviors on video-sharing platforms and the viewer community’s roles in correcting problematic activities.
During the workshop, we will brainstorm potential problems related to creators, viewers, platform services, and algorithms. Then the attendees will explore potential solutions to address such problems. For background, details, and a link to the application, please see the workshop website:
Submissions should be made by February 23rd at 11:59pm Anywhere on Earth (i.e., 23:59 in the latest time zone on the planet).
The workshop will be hosted in hybrid mode. The event will take place in person at CHI2023 in Hamburg, Germany, as well as on Zoom. To participate, submit a position paper in the ACM primary article template (https://www.acm.org/publications/ taps/word-template-workflow) stating your research background, your connections to video-sharing platforms, and/or your related future work. Alternatively, you can also submit an abstract of the topic you would like to discuss or a up to 2 min video. Your submission will be published on the workshop website after obtaining your consent.
Please submit your position paper with the Google form: https://forms.gle/1HhWkitrGXGq4Ep57
At least one author of each accepted submission must attend the workshop. All workshop participants must register for both the workshop and at least one day of the 2023 ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (remote participation enabled).
