The original suggested date (5-6th July) clashed with a non-Barcamp
event of a similar name (by the same people as http://achubbucks.pbwiki.com/)
so we've reviewed dates to 19-20th July. Hopefully, this works for
parents who have upcoming holidays and for most people out there.

I guess it's utopian to think we can suit every single person out
there, so let's go for these dates, make it a success, rince and
repeat 3 months down the line hopefully!

It's now time to try to score a venue willing to let us roam for the
weekend - Once we have a rough idea of the space we have, we can see
how many ppl we can fit in + price up sponsorships.

Post any leads here and I'm happy to follow up with them.

Hi,

Date clashes with WordPressCamp being planned in Birmingham by Tony
Scott (http://tonyscott.org.uk/)

As you say - hard to find a perfect date.

I know, it's a real pain that it's clashing but
- It's in reasonably distant cities
- We're steering SocialMediaCamp away from something as developer-
oriented as a clasic BarCamp

...so while I'd personally like to attend both (having used WP since
it's inception) I think the overlap shouldn't be TOO bad. Who knows,
if we have some really clever A/V gear, we could connect the events at
some point via videoconference ;)

Thanks for flagging that up, Adrian.

Hi,

I may have misread it but the BucksMediaCamp seems to have a date of
17th May.

Hi :)

could you please make an upcoming entry so we can add it to the group?
http://upcoming.yahoo.com/group/1927/

Also of course to the rest, but that is what I care most about +g+

Reason for that is that only the organizer can change it afterwards
which is why I prefer pinging the orgas.

Also I may be blind but I do not see an invite key for the wiki,
it would be nice if it would be in there before we twitter that
further. :)
ciao
Nicole

Adrian - Yup, but the same group of ppl are also organising something
in London early July.

Nicole - I've just create an upcoming.org entry: http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/473594/
Fantastic, thanks for offering to add it to that group!

As for the wiki, the password is c4mp (see the header of the browser
window), feel free to edit the wiki entry!

Thx,
Vero

Thanks - I added it to the usual suspects.
(the only reason I moderate the group is that I only want real 'conference' like events in there).

it does not say in my case - which is why I would mention it at the top of the entry.
I'll add it, myself and the entry on upcoming ;)

and finally thanks for making such an announcement *early* I will still be able to book a very cheap flight now and might even find some okay hotel room ;)

Nicole

With regards to hotels, all depending on how brave you are, I'm hoping
to find a venue that will allow those who fancy it to stay over and
"camp" on site. It remains to be seen whether anyone will let us roam
overnight, but if that's the case, then hotels may not even be
necessary.

Otherwise, we'll look at putting together a list of recommended hotels/
hostels nearby once we pick a venue.

nearby is okay btu actually easy to reach by public transportation is
more important. I also assume that many people will be from london
who will attend, so hotel is less of a problem and everybody will
be happy to have an easy to reach venue.

how many people do you plan to have?
have you though about going into one of the companies like the barcamps did?
