Dear Sunil
The harassment still being unleashed by the ruling dispensation can barely be imagined. The orders currently being passed by Courts relating to the protest seem to be double-edged.
To know the history of past struggles and their techniques and methods is to be fore-armed.
Thanks for agreeing to translate the attached piece into Marathi.
Warm regards
Anil

Thanks Anil for reflecting eloquent, as always.
But history never repeats. The Jantar Mantar protest forced the ruling dispensation to go on the backfoot.
The Bihar government withdrew all the cases against the protestators.
The demolition of Jouhar University was stayed by the divisional commissioner.
We are witnessing the conflict of generation in Sangh Parivar families.
This generation was the "first voter" of Modi. But it feels betrayed. The kids have accepted him as non-biological but now they are demanding death to Fascism.

Dear friends
The Cockroach Janata Party protest, apart from its social and political ramifications, has administered a Culture Shock to those who thought they could get away with anything simply because they had seemingly converted a political majority into a sectarian majority.
Incidentally, here I must correct the notion that the current ruling dispensation is operating merely as an Undeclared Emergency. That would suggest that it is just another Emergency regime albeit without Constitutional sanction. Actually the present dispensation  is  qualitatively different from the  Emergency of 1975-77.. That emergency represented a Political and Constitutional authoritarianism. The current set up represents not merely a Political and Constitutional; authoritarianism but also a Communal-Sectarian authoritarianism.

This makes the fact and successful mobilisation of the Cockroach Janata Party protest, representing all communities  all the more significant.
.
After examining the conclusion of the CJP protest, however, I would recommend to all a close reading of the writings of Mahatma Gandhi and his Modes of Defiance

Settlements (eg with Smuts in South Africa and  Irwin in India) at the conclusion of Defiance Campaigns would be described by Gandhiji  as Provisional Settlements, keeping the way open for pending issues to be resolved and for further struggles on remaining objectives.
.
Also, in the struggles themselves there were various distinctions to be made, eg between "suspension" and/or "calling off" of Civil Disobedience.

There were distinctions also between Civil Disobedience and  Noncooperation [NCO]. Eg. post Chauri Chaura in February 1922 Civil Disobedience due [in Bardoli and some Guntur areas in the South] was "suspended", but Noncooperation was continued.
[Often it is believed that  NCO was called off in 1922 after the Chauri Chaura events. It was not in fact called off or even suspended. NCO was distinct from Civil Disobedience.Only the Civil Disobedience yet to take plaace in Bardoli etc was suspended]

A distinction was also made between aggressive and defensive Civil Disobedience.

Yet another distinction was made between individual civil disobedience and mass civil disobedience. ]

These are useful to understand in the coming days.
The attached article deals with some, of these issues.
Best wishes
