The Socialist Party (India) – Kerala State Committee organised a two-day leadership camp for district-level party leaders with the objective of equipping the organisation to face the forthcoming local body elections more effectively.

The camp was inaugurated by Adv. Thampan Thomas, former National President of the Party, at Dr. G. G. Parikh Nagar, Kochi. Com. Kayikkara Babu, State President, presided over the inaugural session.

Comrades Manoj T. Sarang, C. P. John, Tomy Mathew, and Kattukulam Basheer addressed the participants. Dr. Johnson Y and Com. K. S. Sajith made presentations on organisational strategies and electoral preparedness. Comrades Varghese Thomas, Adoor Roy, Rajiv Thrissur, Francis Xavier, Fazaluddeen, and Vijesh Ollur and district presidents took part in the discussions and deliberations.

The camp resolved that the Socialist Party (India) would field candidates in all Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils across Kerala and contest in at least ten Grama Panchayats in each district.

It was further decided that the Party would form alliances with other democratic and progressive forces, giving due importance to local developmental issues. At the same time, the Party reaffirmed its clear policy of not entering into any form of alliance or understanding with communal parties.

The Party Manifesto will be released on 9 November, and district-level training camps will be conducted for all contesting candidates in preparation for the elections.
