Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Gandhi's martyrdom day! (English and Hindi)

Today is January 30. It has been 78 years since the communal ideology of the Sangh Parivar was shot into the heart of India. Mahatma Gandhi's martyrdom is a reminder of the most brutal political assassination in the history of independent India. The world watched in shock and disbelief as the leader of India's freedom struggle was assassinated by an Indian himself.

It was not a man named Godse who killed Gandhiji. He was just one of the manifestations of the politics of hatred promoted by the Sangh Parivar. The killer revealed a poisonous communal agenda that sees diversity and secularism as the enemy. That scourge is still trying to attack and destroy the Constitution and democratic values of our country.

Why are they still afraid of Gandhiji? The answer is simple. Gandhiji's life and philosophy are the exact opposite of the politics of hatred and alienation envisioned by the Sangh Parivar. While they are trying to impose a monolithic agenda of 'one nation, one culture' through communalism, Gandhiji stood for a pluralistic India that embraces diversity and disagreement. They killed him because they were afraid of his uncompromising stance on secularism. That fear persists among them even today.

The Sangh Parivar is now afraid of even the memories of Gandhiji. As part of this, they have decided to remove Gandhiji's name from the name of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The Sangh Parivar is trying to remove Gandhiji, who declared himself to be one amongst the poor people, from the lives of the common people. The alternative politics that Kerala is raising against the Center's moves to neutralize the Employment Guarantee Scheme and cut the scheme's allocation is also a continuation of Gandhiji's decentralized development visions.

Those who are destroying the heritage of secularism and building temples of communalism are implementing cruel laws to destroy the diversity of the country. We must commit ourselves to protecting the foundation stone of the Indian Republic, unity in diversity, against the totalitarian tendencies that suppress dissent. The forces that are trying to rewrite history and glorify communal murderers are leading the country towards totalitarianism. We must declare that India's secular heritage will not surrender to the communal fascism that is persecuting religious minorities and Dalits.

Gandhiji's martyrdom is a constant call to fight against communalism. Taking it as a basis, let us move forward together for a democratic and secular India.

आज 30 जनवरी है। संघ परिवार की सांप्रदायिक सोच को भारत के दिल में घुसे हुए 78 साल हो गए हैं। महात्मा गांधी की शहादत आज़ाद भारत के इतिहास की सबसे बेरहम राजनीतिक हत्या की याद दिलाती है। दुनिया सदमे और हैरानी से देख रही थी जब भारत की आज़ादी की लड़ाई के नेता की हत्या खुद एक भारतीय ने की।

गांधीजी को गोडसे नाम के किसी आदमी ने नहीं मारा था। वह तो संघ परिवार की नफरत की राजनीति का एक रूप था। हत्यारे ने एक ज़हरीला सांप्रदायिक एजेंडा दिखाया जो डाइवर्सिटी और सेक्युलरिज़्म को दुश्मन मानता है। वह बुराई आज भी हमारे देश के संविधान और डेमोक्रेटिक वैल्यूज़ पर हमला करने और उन्हें खत्म करने की कोशिश कर रही है।

वे अब भी गांधीजी से क्यों डरते हैं? जवाब आसान है। गांधीजी की ज़िंदगी और सोच, संघ परिवार की सोची हुई नफ़रत और अकेलेपन की पॉलिटिक्स के बिल्कुल उलट है। जहाँ वे कम्युनलिज़्म के ज़रिए 'एक देश, एक कल्चर' का एक जैसा एजेंडा थोपने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं, वहीं गांधीजी एक ऐसे प्लूरलिस्टिक इंडिया के लिए खड़े थे जो डाइवर्सिटी और असहमति को अपनाता हो। उन्होंने उन्हें इसलिए मार डाला क्योंकि वे सेक्युलरिज़्म पर उनके अडिग रवैये से डरते थे। वह डर आज भी उनके बीच बना हुआ है।

संघ परिवार अब गांधीजी की यादों से भी डरने लगा है। इसी के तहत, उन्होंने महात्मा गांधी नेशनल रूरल एम्प्लॉयमेंट गारंटी स्कीम के नाम से गांधीजी का नाम हटाने का फैसला किया है। संघ परिवार गांधीजी, जिन्होंने खुद को गरीबों में से एक बताया था, को आम लोगों की ज़िंदगी से हटाने की कोशिश कर रहा है। एम्प्लॉयमेंट गारंटी स्कीम को बेअसर करने और स्कीम के एलोकेशन में कटौती करने के केंद्र के कदमों के खिलाफ केरल जो अल्टरनेटिव पॉलिटिक्स खड़ा कर रहा है, वह भी गांधीजी के डिसेंट्रलाइज़्ड डेवलपमेंट विज़न को ही आगे बढ़ाता है।

जो लोग सेक्युलरिज़्म की विरासत को खत्म कर रहे हैं और कम्युनलिज़्म के मंदिर बना रहे हैं, वे देश की डाइवर्सिटी को खत्म करने के लिए क्रूर कानून लागू कर रहे हैं। हमें असहमति को दबाने वाली तानाशाही सोच के खिलाफ, भारतीय रिपब्लिक की नींव, डाइवर्सिटी में एकता की रक्षा करने के लिए खुद को कमिट करना होगा। जो ताकतें इतिहास को फिर से लिखने और कम्युनल हत्यारों को महिमामंडित करने की कोशिश कर रही हैं, वे देश को तानाशाही की ओर ले जा रही हैं। हमें यह ऐलान करना होगा कि भारत की सेक्युलर विरासत उस कम्युनल फासीवाद के आगे सरेंडर नहीं करेगी जो धार्मिक माइनॉरिटीज़ और दलितों पर ज़ुल्म कर रहा है।

गांधीजी की शहादत सांप्रदायिकता के खिलाफ लड़ने की लगातार आवाज़ है। इसे आधार मानकर, आइए हम सब मिलकर एक लोकतांत्रिक और सेक्युलर भारत के लिए आगे बढ़ें।
