Didn't really like the google widget. Aesthetically not pleasing.
Would prefer a Socialect branded one. Would be better to show when the
posts were updated rather than when they were posted as some of the
posts are quite old and viewers may think they are not relevant
anymore.

I was actually looking for a widget for my socialect blog page, not
the site in general (I guess I can just pull the RSS feed, but that's
a bit boring)

Even better would be a widget that would just show my favourite posts

I agree - google gadgets are not the nicest looking. Try this
instead:

Embed code for a widget to see your favorite posts, i.e. posts from
people you're following on Socialect (See the widget live at
http://socialect.com/files/biplav/timeline.html)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<div style="height:350px;width:300px;"><a href="http://grazr.com/read?
view=o&file=http://socialect.com/biplav/timeline.rss" ><img
alt="Grazr" src="http://static.grazr.com/images/grazrbadge.png"
style="border:none"></a><script defer="defer" type="text/javascript"
src="http://static.grazr.com/gzloader.js?view=o&amp;file=http://
socialect.com/biplav/timeline.rss"></script></div>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Embed code for a widget of your socialect blog (See the widget live
at http://socialect.com/files/biplav/blog.html )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<div style="height:350px;width:300px;"><a href="http://grazr.com/read?
view=o&file=http://socialect.com/biplav.rss" ><img alt="Grazr"
src="http://static.grazr.com/images/grazrbadge.png"
style="border:none"></a><script defer="defer" type="text/javascript"
src="http://static.grazr.com/gzloader.js?view=o&amp;file=http://
socialect.com/biplav.rss"></script></div>
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are these closer to what you're looking for?

looks like the embed codes come out messed up on google groups. Copy
and paste from these links instead:

Thanks - much better than the google widget. Sorry for shifting the
work on you - I didn't mean for you to go surfing for widget creators
on my behalf. I was more interested to know if Socialect itself had
some widgets which I could put on my site.

Edit - I was more interested to know if there were
some widgets which were specifically designed to the unique features
on the Socialect website that I could put on my site.

no worries. i actually knew of and have used grazr before and thought
it was a good fit for what you wanted rather than build a widget from
scratch that does the same thing. maybe at a later time but right now
we're focusing on growing the site :) or fingers crossed someone will
build a socialect widget - the API is free and open after all at
http://socialect.com/api
