RCI (Rehabilitation
Council of India) is in the process of recognising Social Workers as
Rehabilitation Social Worker provided they have undergone a theoretical
paper on 'Disability' during their MSW curriculum.

| Dear Ramesh, As I told earlier we at Rehabilitation Council of India have been making efforts to get Professional Social Workers registered with RCI. During the meeting held in March 2010 at TISS there was a discussion to consider also those institutions which have "disability" as specialization or have it as one or Two papers. We have now decided to call for details from different Schools of Social Work. They may be requested to submit the curriculum of their courses along with Names and Qualifications of the Teachers dealing with the Course/Specialization. After compiling the information, a Sub committee is being formed to assess the quality of curriculum and if found adequate, decision would be taken (by RCI) to register these PSWs as Rehab Social Worker. You may now circulate the information and request the Schools of Social work in your list to complete the details and send to me for presenting before the Council. Narasimham
