Dear all,

Further to our after hours session last week, I've been thinking about our planned meeting set for Kings College on Tues 25 Jul, 12.30-2pm

So far, we have on our agenda something along the lines of:
  • feedback from evaluation questionnaire;
  • review of new set paper series proposals;
  • discussion of additional/revised design features for "course 2.0"
Am wondering if it may be possible to include (or even tag on at the end, say, from 2pm onwards) a 20-30 minute section on the topic of research methodologies for e-learning research?

The rationale would be two-fold:
  1. Am hoping to develop a strand on this topic over Jul/Aug, both online and offline as part of our evolution towards whatever happens next, and it would be helpful to get a feel for where some of our group is at on this topic already as a starting point, and so what sorts of aspects may be useful to focus on at this stage. For example, there have been a few times where having contributed in f2f discussions, but I've yet to find a way of sharing such methodological perspectives online. On the other hand, have managed to set aside some time to do this over Jul/Aug, and so hopefully this can help serve to keep momentum going between our "course" just ended in Jun and our new "course" to begin in Sept.
  2. A colleague at Oxford has since expressed an interest in possibly joining our group from here on in, and happens to be in the final stages of putting together a Special Issue of the Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME), on the topic of "Research Methodology in e-Learning Research". Perhaps members of the group may be interested in publishing a paper and/or acting as reviewers for this special issue over the summer months, although the issue itself may take some initial introduction. JIME has an innovative review process in this sense (see http://www-jime.open.ac.uk/ ) and perhaps e-Scholarship may also be a topic of choice close to some of our hearts?
What do you think?

PS - please do send me your questionnaire responses if you can over the next few days and I'll do my best to feed these back asap.

As ever,

"Natasha"
