Invitation Email: Round Table Discussion: Local DRR and Management
Dear Colleagues in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management:
Greetings from IIRR!
The International Institute of Rural Reconstruction (IIRR) (www.iirr.org) is a community development and hands-on training and research organization with 55 years of experience. IIRR has implemented people-centered, sustainable development programs in Africa, Latin America and Asia. Today, it maintains a strong presence in East Africa and Southeast Asia implementing programs that are locally-relevant, tailored, and community-driven. IIRR’s Headquarters and Regional Centre for Asia are located in the Philippines. It is one of the few international organizations registered in the United States with headquarters in Asia.
IIRR in collaboration with the Humanitarian Leadership Academy (www.humanitarianleadershipacademy.org) is organizing a 1-day round table discussion in New Delhi, India on April 10, 2017. We will send the exact venue later when we finalized the program and participants.
The title of the RTD is “Promoting Local Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in India”. This is an intimate RTD of just 15-20 selected local NGOs in India actively working and leading disaster risk reduction and management in the country. The objectives of the RTD are as follows:
1. Surface good practices in DRR and disaster management that local NGOs are doing in India;
2. Identify areas for capacity development that will strengthen further the quality of local DRR and disaster management programs in the country; and
3. Discuss possible areas of collaboration and partnership work in India with IIRR and the Humanitarian Leadership Academy.
As we are only allocating limited seats to the RTD, we will be screening the organizations who are interested to participate. If you are interested to participate, please fill up the attached 1-page NGO Profile Form.
In order to achieve the first objective, we would like to identify 3-4 organizations that can share their good practices during the RTD. We will choose the presentations based on the quality of the good practice and the theme (assessment, WASH, food distribution, insurance, etc) where the practice belongs to. If you wish to make a presentation, we would like to ask you to fill up the Good Practice Presentation Form as well so that we can evaluate and choose the organizations who can make the presentation.
The RTD is for FREE. IIRR will cover for 2 snacks and 1 lunch during the event and some materials as well. Unfortunately we cannot cover any transportation costs and accommodation.
To relay your response to us, please tick the appropriate the box and send this back to us on or before March 27, 2017.
