Is anyone here doing it? What's worked and what hasn't? Horror
stories? Advice?

Here's a question that can be had for any service based business, but
nightclubs and restaurants are the question here: Do you use your
website as a vehicle to send people to your Facebook page for things
like discounts and/or coupons (because Facebook is much more viral
than a website) Or, do you use Facebook in conjunction with your
website and drive people from FB to your website for the coupons.

The other question - and possible idea - could you put up different
promotions in both locations (FB and website) to see which drives more
customers to your door?

Finally - can FB really be used to gauge true fans (with the idea of a
coupon or special) because it is SO viral.

Just a few thoughts...

All great questions. Another factor to be considered is the immediacy
of Social Networking.
Research has shown that most people now check their Facebook account
more often than their email.

At some point, I'd like to experiment with a timed offer... such as
"offer is only valid until 4pm"
or a promotion akin to the familiar old radio favorite "For the next 8
callers".
