Hope my email finds you well. I am reaching out to share a terrific Managing Director of Development (MDD) position with an international relations and policy nonprofit in the Washington, D.C. area. The MDD is a new position that will be integrally involved in the design and implementation of an overall fundraising strategy for the organization. The position will oversee fundraising sources, including individual, corporate, foundation, and government giving. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with various teams including Finance and Programs, to ensure that fundraising efforts align with organizational needs. The position will manage and mentor a team of 9. Candidates should have an interest in international affairs and experience with a think tank or public policy is a plus. Qualified candidates should have approximately 10+ years of relevant experience, including time in a management role. Bachelor's degree is required. Graduate degree is a plus. This position currently operates on a hybrid schedule and the salary range is $165,000 to $175,000 per year, based on experience.

Responsibilities:
- Integral in the design, development, implementation, and management of the organization's overall fundraising strategy
- Oversee fundraising from sources including individuals, governments, corporations, and foundations
- Identify and manage the full fundraising lifecycle for new funding sources
- Steward and build strong relationships with funders
- Collaborate cross-functionally to understand program needs for various grant applications, proposals, and contracts
- Establish goals and targets for the Development team
- Identify methods to incorporate DEI practices
- Manage and mentor a team with members located both domestically and internationally
Qualifications:
- Approximately 10+ years of relevant fundraising experience, including time in a management role
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree a plus
- Demonstrated track record of success leading a team and securing new funding
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of or interest in transatlantic and international affairs
- Experience managing a team across different time zones a plus
- Ability to travel as needed
