I'm being tasked with more budget/revenue responsibilities these days (exciting! a little anxiety-inducing! a welcome growth opportunity!), and I am curious how other organizations approach this with their development teams. Would anyone be willing to share with me how their organization approaches it, either via phone or email or Zoom? or if enough people were interested, I could set up a group Zoom? i get the sense that the approaches and who is most responsible kind of varies from organization to organization (from the chief development officer to the chief financial officer to the CEO or ED). how do you approach coming up with the budgeted revenue projections for the new year? how do you communicate that information to your finance team to put into accounting software? are you going through your current or previous year's large funders one by one to determine likelihood of renewal/amount of likely renewal? are you lumping them into groups and then taking a percentage of them as a set that are likely to renew, leaving you with a number to be raised of new money based on what the organization's expected expenses are?
Thank you!
