I thought I would join this group. My name is Rory Ridley-Duff. I am
an academic in the UK who has just completed a doctorate on corporate
governance (how companies are governed and govern themselves). During
the doctorate, I helped a private enterprise become an
employee-owned/controlled enterprise as well as commenting on the CIC
company form recently introduced to parliament. My most recent writing
has been for the Social Enterprise Journal.
Before entering academia, I spent 13 years running
co-operative/employee-owned businesses. I am now working on the second
edition of a book for entrepreneurs called "Silent Revolution: Creating
and Managing Social Enterprises".
If anyone wants to swap experiences to help the development of the book
and do some mutual learning at the same time, I would be interested in
corresponding with you.
All the best
Dr Ridley-Duff
Thanks for joining, I must warn you that there is a low volume of
messages through this particular group.
On the subject that you are interested in can I suggest that you contact
Alastair Wilson at the School for Social Entrepreneurs

Bob Doherty of Liverpool JMU has just got funding to provide management
training to social enterprises. His contact details are on the attached
spreadsheet, which gives the names of academics with an interest in
social enterprise. This maybe a fruitful line of inquiry. (write direct
to sven....@socialenterprise.org.uk if you don't find it attached)
Also the people involved in franchising social enterprises may have some
insight (the following is pasted from a generic response)
