Educating Beyond Borders – Floating Campus Initiative
Non-Executive Directors (4 appointments)

Location: UK (remote with periodic in-person commitments)

Role type: Non-Executive Director (Companies House appointment)

Time commitment: Part-time, strategic (delivery-supporting, not honorary)

Start: January 2026 (rolling)

About the Organisation
Educating Beyond Borders is building the UK’s first floating campus — a mobile education and community space responding to student isolation, housing insecurity, and mental health risk during campus closures.

Our winter floating campus has already attracted a growing community of 70 student members, confirmed sponsorship interest, and active partnerships with student unions. We are now entering a critical scale-up and revenue-conversion phase.

The Opportunity
We are appointing four UK-based Non-Executive Directors to strengthen our board during early growth.
These are formal governance roles, not advisory or honorary positions. Directors will be appointed at Companies House and will support both strategic oversight and revenue-critical decision-making during the build phase.

Each NED will align with a specific commercial or funding lane, working closely with the founder and executive team to convert pipeline into sustainable cashflow.

Non-Executive Director Focus Areas
We are particularly interested in candidates aligned with one or more of the following:

Finance & Commercial Operations
Cashflow oversight, loan compliance, financial governance

Business Development (Courses & Memberships)
Education products, memberships, institutional partnerships

Grants, Trusts & Philanthropy
Foundations, charitable funding, major donors

Sponsorships & Strategic Partnerships
Corporate sponsorships, CSR / ESG partnerships

What Already Exists
Active student community with delivery underway
Confirmed sponsorship authorisation (£2.5k, with pipeline building)
Vessel identified for the floating campus
Green light to apply for a British Business Bank start-up loan (no personal guarantees)
Advisory support via NatWest Business Accelerator
Partnerships with university student unions in progress

About the Role
As a Non-Executive Director, you will:
Provide board-level governance and strategic oversight
Support decision-making in a revenue-critical lane
Help convert existing interest and pledges into committed income
Act as a director at Companies House (including bank signatory where required)
Bring credibility, challenge, and commercial insight at an early stage
This role is strategic and accountable, but not day-to-day operational.

Remuneration
This is an early-stage, revenue-sharing NED role.
There are no fixed cash fees at the outset
As organisational cashflow grows, director fees will be introduced on a phased, sliding-scale basis
Remuneration is subject to board approval, performance, and financial capacity
This structure is designed to align reward with sustainable growth rather than upfront cost.

Who This Is For
You may be a strong fit if you:
Are UK-based and eligible to act as a company director
Have senior experience in business development, finance, partnerships, funding, or governance
Are comfortable supporting early-stage organisations through ambiguity
Care deeply about education access, student wellbeing, and social impact
Want to contribute meaningfully at board level, not just advise from the sidelines

Practicalities
Directors are appointed in line with company and charity law
Time commitment is flexible, provided governance responsibilities and agreed deliverables are met
Interviews will be held on a rolling basis from January 2026
