The Secure Energy Project  needs a fabulous campaigner/network builder to build an army of support for the energy transition

The Secure Energy Project is building a global campaign for accelerated energy transition, prioritising engagement with organisations that sit outside of the traditional climate community.

They will also lead on finding and building relationships with organisations, institutions and companies who know that it is in their interest to demand access to more renewable energy.  They will work with partners and creatives to design innovative ways that these voices can be leveraged in the national and international political space.

Tasks involved:

  • Delivery of our existing global communications campaign which aims to deepen commitment to the new global goal of the tripling of global energy capacity by 2030 and to counter the fossil fuel lobby’s efforts to slow it

  • Design of messaging frameworks based on audience insights

  • Strategic design and direction in collaboration with the CEO

  • Building relationships with and getting buy-in from  the institutions, brands and individuals who can bring the energy transition fight out of the niche global space and into the popular public imagination.

  •  Creative engagement and oversight  of vendors to design and deliver our campaign assets, interventions and the platform

  • Participation in the Global Clean Energy Network as SEP is the  lead for the strategic communications and movements workstream

  • An experienced and well-networked campaigns and communications professional who has been working in climate or social justice for at least 5  years

  • A strategist who asks good questions before committing to work.

  • A creative, entrepreneurial campaigner who loves generating ideas with allies, who knows how to hold to strategy and when to turn to delivery.

  • Someone who understands the power of networks, and has the necessary patience and tenacity to build them.

  • A thick skinned human who knows how to use a telephone and can cope if it's not answered.

  • Tapped into the zeitgeist and not afraid to seize a strategic opportunity.

  • A flexible worker who can communicate their own needs, and find solutions to meet them.

  • Self-organised and able to work effectively, remotely

  • A human, with a sense of humour and a relentless belief that the climate movement can win.

This is a 4 day a week remote position. Fee commensurate with location and experience.

You will be on a 1 year consultant contract and responsible for your own invoices and account management. We aim to extend this role to permanent, once we prove to funders what we can do!

Email a resume and cover letter to in...@secureenergyproject.org [note the double ee in the middle as this can cause people to get bounce-backs]

We welcome applicants from any country with a preference for the global south.
