About the Interim Director Position:
 
Human Connections has undergone structural changes as a result of the
pandemic’s impact on the travel industry. As we pivot to strengthen,
deepen, and expand our Global Engagement Trip (GET) program, it is
paramount that we ensure excellence in our itineraries and maintain strong
relationships with our existing institutional partners. After two years of
putting our in-person programs on hold, Human Connections will be hosting
several student groups in Spring 2022. We are seeking an Interim Director
to oversee these GETs and, more generally, assume leadership and
administration responsibilities for our organization. The ideal candidate
will have substantial experience within the international education or
travel sector.
 
What makes HC unique is our partnership model and the way in which we work
with local families. A key part of this role is to develop genuine,
personal relationships with our network of local partners, to become
familiarized with our community, and to ensure our organizational values
are appropriately reflected in our programming.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Organizational Leadership & Strategy

In partnership with the Board of Directors, define long-term goals to
fulfill our mission;

Ensure efficient and ethical use of the organization's resources and
cost-effective operations, overseeing a budget with primarily earned
income;
-

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with a diverse group of
stakeholders, including community leaders, academic institutions, and
donors;
-

Foster a culture of passion and excitement about the vision of the
organization.

Programs

Manage communications with our existing university partners to support
them with currently planned Student Programs;
-

Hire local staff, as needed, to execute programs in Mexico for tasks
including: translation, logistics, coordinating with local partners, risk
management, etc;

Oversee outreach and marketing to promote all programs and convert
leads;
-

Develop itineraries and budgets for new accounts, potentially developing
GETs for non-academic audiences, such as corporate retreats, yoga and
wellness retreats, etc.

Build relationships with new community partners who can work with our
GET groups.

Administration

In collaboration with our bookkeepers, accountants, and Board of
Directors, ensure the good standing of our legal entities;

Maintain attractive, engaging social media platforms and website content;

Monitor and report on our social impact;

Recruit and manage staff as needed to meet our program objectives;

Maintain efficient operational procedures and HR policies.

 
SELECTION CRITERIA

Leadership experience in either education abroad or the nonprofit sector;

Fluent spoken and written English and Spanish;
-

Entrepreneurial mindset;
-

Experience facilitating educational programs and/or leading trips with
young adults;

Excellent written and oral communication;

Great organizer with the ability to work independently and juggle
multiple projects to meet tight deadlines;

Demonstrated success with progressive management responsibilities;

Strong computer skills, particularly with Google products;

Experience living and working in Mexico;

Advanced degree in education, international development, nonprofit
management, travel, or related field

Compensation: The Interim Director will earn a director-level Mexican
salary between $40,000-$50,000 MXN/month ($2,000-$2,500 USD/month
equivalent). We also offer other benefits, including a generous vacation
policy, a vehicle to use locally, the ability to frequently work remotely,
travel benefits, and a flexible schedule.

The Opportunity
 
We are looking for a full-time Program Manager to support our NYC-based
Technology and Manufacturing Programs team. The team is responsible for
delivering programs in the United States for government, philanthropic and
corporate clients.
 
The Program Manager will be responsible for the successful execution and
strategy support of SecondMuse’s current New York statewide Scale for
ClimateTech program, supported by the New York State Energy Research and
Development Authority (NYSERDA). The Program Manager will oversee the
design, development, implementation and external communications of the
program, as well as management of internal stakeholders including partners,
manufacturing relationships, advisory board, and client-facing engagements
and reporting. Provide the leadership and strategy needed to extend our
understanding of climate tech, hardware and manufacturing, and provide
additional value to our community through business development support and
engagement of potential clients and funders. The Program Manager will also
lead the selection and onboarding of new cohorts as well as new initiatives
including the expansion of geographic presence and market driven
opportunities. Responsible for managing high-level program plans, ensuring
deliverables are met and budgets are aligned with company expectations.
 
 
Essential Functions
 
- Manage the implementation and impact measurement of the Scale for
ClimateTech program including and not limited to:
- Program Implementation
- Program and team management
- Oversee the S4C Advisory Board
- Ensure milestones are met with the client
- Align program goals with SecondMuse Imperatives and OKRs
- Grow the SecondMuse network in cleantech and scale-up manufacturing
based on SecondMuse’s sector strategy and market drivers
- Coordinate to deepen and grow entrepreneurial networks in NYC, NY
State and beyond.
- Manage the program budget, monitoring the burn rate and P&L’s and
ensure that the program work is completed within budget. Work with the
program team to manage scope and proactively address scope
changes. Request
billing to invoice the client at appropriate intervals. Keep internal
finance and program systems updated.
- Ensure the program team is up to speed on program requirements,
scope limitations, changes in scope, potential risks, deliverable details
and budget.
- Utilize company wide best practices. Capture program learnings and
participate in sharing learnings across program teams and the broader
company.
- Manage quality, ensuring that deliverables meet the client’s
objectives and expectations. Review deliverables before they are sent to
the client.
- Manage vendor assignments and budget, in consultation with the
program partner, and the work of vendors.
- Facilitate post-program documentation and review (monitoring and
evaluation requirements).

Requirements
 
- Expertise in business, startups, climate, manufacturing and/or
industrial fields
- Experience with human centered design, partnership development, and

short films to support our overall impact missions at Exposure Labs. ELABS
has a long history of creating feature-length films that received
international recognition and distribution: Chasing Ice (2012), Chasing
Coral (2017), and The Social Dilemma (2020), among others. ELABS is seeking
to formally establish an in-house short-form production arm and is looking
for a filmmaker and social change maker to build out this element of the
organization. This storytelling must be grounded in social issues from
climate change to the exploitative business models of technology and must
focus on speaking to diverse audiences, reaching across different
communities and organizations to build traction around existing movements
and inspire viewers toward action. This position requires a candidate to be
a strategic and creative filmmaker, highly self-motivated, able to operate
