UnCommon Law is seeking a Director of People & Culture to lead our efforts to develop an exceptional and cohesive team. We are at a key inflection point, recently expanding from a staff of 10 to 25. The Director of People & Culture is a newly-created position intended to serve as the organization’s “Culture Keeper,” leading us in refining, modeling, and living out our organizational values and trauma-informed approach. At UnCommon Law, we are especially committed to supporting formerly incarcerated and system-impacted staff members to grow as leaders. The Director of People & Culture will play a key role in ensuring that we realize this commitment.
At UnCommon Law, we believe all people are deserving of healing, justice, and advocacy. We believe much of this work can and should be led by people with personal experience. And we recognize this work is endless, arduous, joyful, and heart-rending, and it requires a commitment to care for ourselves and others. Our trauma-informed approach has yielded transformative results among our clients and community members. The Director of People & Culture will help ensure that our staff experience a trauma-informed workplace as well. They will refine existing people practices (human resources) and develop new structures, including a first-of-its-kind compensation model that promotes a culture of valuing lived experience, racial equity, sustainability, and inclusion.
