The Agency Fund is seeking a PhD or Masters student to support a social return on investment (SROI) analysis of nonprofit organizations in global health, education, and labor productivity.

If interested, you will drive day-to-day grantee-level research: conducting literature reviews; collecting and processing data on each program's reach, costs, and benefits; helping monetize outcomes; documenting and vetting analytical inputs and assumptions; and communicating directly with grantee teams to obtain the data and clarifications the analysis requires. You would work closely with the project lead, Wendy Wong, who worked with Michael Kremer on the USAID DIV analysis of SROI.

Required proficiencies are the ability to read and critically assess empirical social-science research (randomized trials and quasi-experimental evaluations); comfort working with quantitative data and building auditable models; clear written and verbal communication, including professional correspondence with external partners; disciplined sourcing and attention to where numbers come from; and the organization to carry several grantee workstreams in parallel and keep each on schedule.

A background in economics, public policy, or a related empirical field is preferred, and familiarity with cost-effectiveness or impact-evaluation methods is a plus. The estimated commitment is 15–20 hours per week, with heavier effort anticipated this summer. Compensation is based on experience, averaging $60/hour. Email CV to we...@agency.fund.
