General DescriptionThe Fundraising Manager - Major Gifts Specialist will play a key role in our Development Team, responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors to secure significant philanthropic support for our organization. This position requires a dynamic individual who excels at building and maintaining strong relationships with both corporate and individual donors. The Fundraising Manager - Major Gifts Specialist will develop and implement strategic fundraising plans, work towards achieving ambitious fundraising goals, and influence and inspire others to increase contributions from both existing and new donors. This new role, working within an expanding Development Team, leverages persuasive skills to enhance donor engagement and maximize philanthropic impact, directly supporting our mission to enhance the quality of life for older adults and residents experiencing low income in Alameda County.

Primary Responsibilities- Conduct prospect discovery through data analysis, reporting, and research to identify potential major donors.
- Build and develop a portfolio of prospects with the goal of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding their support.
- Secure corporate and major gifts from $10,000 to $100,000, aiming to raise $750,000 annually with a portfolio of prospects, increasing giving levels, and re-engaging lapsed donors.
- Develop and implement moves management plans to effectively track and cultivate donor relationships.
- Assist donors in achieving their philanthropic goal through tailored engagement and relationship-building with our organization through other means such as donor advised funds, stocks, retirement distributions, etc.
- Collaborate with the Development Director to align strategic plans, set goals, and drive fundraising efforts.
- Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with individual prospects through personal visits, phone calls, and other engagement activities tailored to their interests.
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitations (e.g., provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition.
- Monitor and report on progress using specific metrics and fundraising benchmarks.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders including but not limited to the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
- Ensure compliance with all of Spectrum’s contracts and uphold Spectrum’s values.
- Attend staff meetings, 1:1 meetings, training sessions, and special events.
- Work with IT specialist to resolve technical issues and maintain electronic equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

We Need Someone Who Has:- Minimum five years of relevant experience in project or program management, or a related field, with a proven track record in building donor relationships, soliciting and closing gifts, and providing effective stewardship to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
- Experience managing and coordinating complex projects involving multiple tasks and competing deadlines; ability to set priorities, create schedules, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Excellent technical skills with expertise in Google Workspace, web resources, and CRM/donor management databases such as Neon CRM
- A positive, can-do attitude and dedicated work ethic.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, research and editorial skills; ability to synthesize information and compose clear and effective prose.
- Superior organizational skills with a thorough, accurate, and detail-oriented work style.
- Strong attention to detail and customer service focus with the ability to quickly understand and remember donor information; excellent customer-service focus with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and a proven ability to work patiently, persuasively, and effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including donors, clients, volunteers, and staff.
- Demonstrated sound judgment in situations requiring independent decision-making and in handling confidential and sensitive material.
Nice to Have:- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) or other relevant certification
- Experience in project and/or program management
- Established donor and business connections in Alameda County.
- Experience with Neon CRM or similar CRM/donor management database
Physical DemandsThis work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs. of material, finger dexterity for activities such as data entry and calculator use, grasping, repetitive motions.
Work Environment- Occasional work outside of normal office hours
- Occasional evening and weekend events and/or meetings with required attendance

- Required to travel between locations by personal vehicle
- Travel within Alameda County and possible limited state or national trainings/conferences
- Mostly indoor work on daily basis; many outdoor events throughout the year
