About the Role 

You are an experienced Frontend Engineer, who excels at coordinating and facilitating the critical work of building world-class systems. Working with other engineers to streamline the work of development, and testing, the Lead Front-End Engineer will be responsible for establishing development standards, implementing best practices, and producing a first-class digital fishmongering experience at Wild Alaskan. 

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with and lead core team of engineers to help build best practices for the frontend stack.
  • Perform code reviews.
  • Assist with the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform web applications.
  • Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with digital product managers, and deliver robust solutions that drive powerful experiences
  • Work with legacy code to either clean up tech debt or rewrite code. 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Required Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of best practices of frontend development and unit testing.
  • Able to manage laterally and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Able to collaborate with and lead the team of developers.
  • BS in computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of development experience.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills. 
  • Experience in customer-facing web application development.
  • Experience in responsive design development.
  • Experience in mobile-first development.
  • Experience in JS frameworks.
  • Experience in CSS/Sass libraries (tailwind, bootstrap)-
  • FE pkg manager experience.
  • Passion for or willingness to learn about sustainability. 
Nice-to-Haves: 
  • Experience in e-commerce web application development.
  • Experience in mobile development.
  • Experience with web vitals (lighthouse score, etc).
  • Experience with VueJS.
  • Experience with PHP/Laravel.
  • Server-side-rendering.
  • PWA - progressive web app.
  • Good organization skills.
  • People management experience. 
  • Experience in a fast-paced, startup environment. 
  • Curiosity -  you don’t settle with things being as they are and constantly ask why or what if?

The starting salary range for this position is $130,000 - $165,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
