Overview

Civic Hall Labs currently seeks a dynamic and highly-organized Project Coordinator to work on a full-time, twelve-month contract from May 2017 through May 2018. The Project Coordinator will support the continued development and execution of our Pro Bono Tech Program, Delta.NYC. As a start-up research and development nonprofit in civic technology, our work will provide you with opportunity to network with a cross-sector group of nonprofit, for-profit, and government organizations. The Project Coordinator’s work will result in delivering productive pro bono support for NYC nonprofits that defend civil rights and provide critical services, while creating meaningful experiences for digital professionals who learn about and contribute to public interest organizations.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Program Manager for Pro Bono Tech, the Project Coordinator will support the execution of Labs’ Pro Bono Tech Program, Delta.NYC. The Project Coordinator will support the Program Manager in the full range of the program lifecycle: supporting nonprofit partnerships, building relationships with a wide range of tech professionals, assisting with participant recruitment, coordinating a series of workshops and events, and contributing to various communications needs across the project and organization. The Project Coordinator will help develop and execute a screening process for Delta.NYC participants and administrate participant channels to field questions and support participants. The Project Coordinator will assist with program evaluation, data tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Support in the execution of the work plan in partnership with Labs’ team, responsively handling a range of administrative, logistics, and communications tasks across the lifecycle of program execution;

  • Manage logistics of program events, workshops and networking opportunities for participants;

  • Assist in tracking and measuring pilot program outcomes and results;

  • Provide project, event and meeting support or other logistical duties as assigned.


Partnerships / Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with organizations and technologists in order to monitor, support, study, and troubleshoot program execution;

  • Coordinate, attend and record interviews and meetings with public interest organizations and technologists before, during and after program execution in order to ensure successful communication and effective progress tracking;

  • Manage communications channels with participants, supporting them in finding information, overcoming barriers, and resolving disputes;

  • Create written products on an ongoing basis, including external communications and background memos for generalist audiences

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills, commitment to high-quality work, and an eye for detail, able to both take direction and work independently on organizational strategy;

  • Demonstrated success in project coordination;

  • At least one year of experience in a community organizing, events planning, or project coordination role;

  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with senior corporate professionals, government officials, and nonprofit executive directors;

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders, including nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and digital professionals;

  • Ideal candidate is able to build warm professional relationships with program participants;

  • Ideal candidate has experience working in companies and/or nonprofits that use pro bono;

  • Excellent writing ability, including proofreading and editing skills;

  • Familiarity with volunteering and pro bono programs a plus;

  • Familiarity with New York City tech scene a plus;

  • Sense of humor appreciated.
