COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE

 

Civic Builders is embarking on an ambitious campaign to begin building over $100 million in charter school facilities in the next four years.  Civic Builders Development team is responsible for leading all organizational fundraising initiatives including a $34 million capital fund and sourcing philanthropy for Civic Builders’ ongoing operational budget.  Civic Builders seeks an entrepreneurial, mission-driven teammate to join Civic Builders’ Development team as Communications Associate. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:    The Communications Associate must be able to translate Civic Builders’ financially-complex, socially-entrepreneurial business model into a compelling and accessible story for a variety of audiences including foundations, lenders, individual donors and school clients.  The Communications Associate’s primary role will be to solicit and maintain institutional support through grant writing and reporting under the direction of the Director of Development.  The Communications Associate will also be the organization’s content expert acting as a resource across departments for external communications.  Prior experience with data analysis, marketing or grant writing is a plus.  

 

1.             Solicit & maintain competitive grants from current & newly-sourced foundation supporters:

§  Be educated and informed regarding key funding issues surrounding public and private funding

§  Draft compelling letters of interest and proposals to maximize current and new grant opportunities

§  Provide superb written content and all data analysis for accurate, on-time reporting to funders

§  Solicit and compile project-specific input from other Civic team members

§  Research  new institutional fundraising opportunities

§  Create grant-related updates for Board of Directors & other key stakeholders

§  Maintain a comprehensive grants calendar to track deadlines and manage grants database

 

2.             Support organization’s efforts to solicit subsidized debt:

§  Create innovative presentation tools to showcase Civic Builders’ portfolio to potential investors

§  Write organizational and project-specific content and create presentation materials for Program Related Investment (PRI), Letters of Credit (L/C), and credit enhancement proposals

§  Provide technical content and data analysis for all interim and final reporting related to PRIs, L/Cs and credit enhancement  

 

3.             Help create Civic Builders’ Brand:

§  Collaborate with the Director of Development on marketing and communication strategies including the vision, content and visual appeal of Civic Builders’ website, videos and social media

§  Lead the charge on the creation of a detailed Civic Builders Branding Guidebook

§  Review and edit all solicitation materials including capital campaign materials, annual reports, year-end solicitation,  press releases and other print & electronic materials

§  Produce Civic Builders’ marketing packets & presentations and manage all marketing/communication vendors, designers and consultants

Qualifications/Requirements:

§  Excellent analytical and writing skills and extremely diligent  attention to details including ability to follow strict proposal and reporting guidelines

§  Demonstrated ability to self-manage to deadlines

§  Basic Development/Fundraising skills including how to research and write grant proposals and build relationships with institutional and governmental funders

§  Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred and a minimum of 3 years-experience in a related position

§  Sense of humor

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience
