Director of Social Enterprise – Project Place
Project Place seeks an experienced business leader to oversee its social enterprise portfolio and lead the next phase of growth. This is a mission-critical role that sits at the heart of our work: creating dignified pathways to employment for individuals experiencing homelessness through revenue-generating social enterprises.
The Role
You will lead all social enterprise operations, develop business growth strategy, drive sales and partnership development, and manage P&L across multiple business lines. You'll serve on the Senior Leadership Team and report initially to the Director of Finance and Social Enterprises, transitioning to the Executive Director within the year.
Key responsibilities include strategic business development, overseeing daily operations and team management, financial planning and accountability, and impact measurement. You'll balance our dual bottom line—profitability and participant success—while building a team that includes program graduates in supervisory roles.
What We're Looking For
You need 7+ years of progressive business operations, entrepreneurship, or social enterprise experience, with a proven track record in business development and P&L management. You should have strong analytical and leadership skills, deep commitment to social justice, and comfort building relationships across diverse stakeholders—from corporate partners to government officials to clients with lived experience.
Preferred experience includes work in social enterprise, nonprofit operations, workforce development, and/or working with individuals experiencing homelessness or employment barriers.
