Job Posting: Full Stack Software Engineer (GeoMatch) at Stanford’s Immigration Policy Lab
Stanford University is looking for a full-time Software Engineer to join the Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) as a technical lead and programmer on our GeoMatch project team. Situated within IPL, the GeoMatch team partners with governments to develop and implement an algorithm-based matching tool to connect asylum seekers, refugees, and immigrants to locations within a host country where they are most likely to thrive. Our software is in use with multiple partner agencies, and we have plans to expand to additional contexts and partners in the next year where the tool could help improve outcomes for tens of thousands of immigrants.
The Software Engineer will work closely with existing staff (including our current Senior Software Engineer) and faculty to develop, adapt, and scale the GeoMatch software tool to existing and new partners, which include multiple governments and nonprofits serving immigrants and refugees. We are looking for candidates who have the ability and experience to meet the technical requirements of the position and who are enthusiastic about using their skills to build a software product with real-world impacts. GeoMatch is a global research initiative that functions with the adaptability of a start-up. Its work is driven by a lean and passionate team dedicated to developing user-focused software products and generating rigorous evidence of their impact.
