to Social Enterprise Jobs

Company Description

We believe that every business — and the people within them — can be net positive contributors to society AND the planet.

To achieve this, MovingWorlds is building the world’s best capacity building platform that:

  1. Educates social impact leaders and corporate professionals on how to scale social innovation
  2. Connects professionals to skills-based volunteering projects with social innovators
  3. Integrates social enterprises into corporate supply chains

On our platform:

  1. Social enterprises, nonprofits, and impact startups scale faster with personalized guidance, market connections, and direct support from peers, industry experts, and skilled volunteers.
  2. Professionals build more purposeful careers by learning how they can best contribute to the net positive movement, and then take action by volunteering their skills, expanding their network, and learning how to integrate impact into their job.

We partner with:

  • Global corporations who sponsor their employees to volunteer with social enterprises, and then integrate them into their value chains
  • Impact investors and accelerators to help them cost-effectively recruit and support impact enterprises
  • Global associations to leverage data and research on how to accelerate the growth of a social economy

Role Description

You're a great fit for this role if you:

Have prior startup experience:

  • Know how to evolve with an organization
  • Know when to invest in code vs company building
  • Likes the ambiguity
  • 2+ years of experience as a fullstack web developer / product engineer

Wants to spend your time:

  • 80-90% of time coding
  • 10-20% product collaboration (partnering with our non-technical Head of Product, Head of Engineering, and UI/UX Lead to translate product requirements into engineering requirements — AND also loves product and wants to collaborate on next-up features and experiments)

Can work with our (newly refactored and very modern and clean) tech stack:

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Tailwind (single-page application)
  • Backend: Python FastAPI (API-first architecture)
  • Database: PostgreSQL (relational, enterprise-grade)
  • Cloud Provider: Microsoft Azure

Can fully own new features and develop them start to finish, and help us build the future:

  • Shape our product experience for our users
  • Help us more effectively integrate LLMs to improve user experiences
  • Build admin tools, lower operating costs
  • Build next-up big product features, including b2b enterprise features like new user types and roles, security, integrations
  • Enjoys shaping solution design with product and business stakeholders, not just implementing requirements

Excited to help move from ambiguity for future bigger ideas, including

  • Evolving our product experience as we scale users and use cases
  • Applying AI thoughtfully to improve both user experience and internal efficiency
  • Building enterprise-ready capabilities, integrations, and operational tooling
  • Strengthening the platform’s reliability, security, and compliance posture

Hour overlap

  • Will work most closely with team members from Spain, Brazil, New York, and Seattle. Preferred time-zone is close to EST, but most overlap at least a few hours with morning PST

Are aligned with our unique (and award winning!) culture:

  • Mission-driven
  • User focused
  • Energized by collaborating with non technical folks to invent and define product features
  • Growth mindset with natural inclination to self and company improvement
  • Thrives in ambiguity
  • Experiment-minded
  • Comfortable working in an agile, iterative development environment
  • Creates own efficiencies through improved workflows, ethical use of AI, and building own tools.

Important compensation details:

  • On account of our social mission, industry, and size, we are paying less than a VC backed startup, but we do pay comparable or even better than nonprofits of similar size – we use a calculator and market data to pay our team equitably. The salary range, based on your location and experience, will be between $75,000 a $97,500
  • Generous equity in a category defining and growing startup
  • Benefits including healthcare, work from home stipend, and 3% retirement matching
  • Company perks, like monthly mentals (last Friday of every month off), recognition of holidays where you live, end-of-year slow down (no meeting week and then last two weeks of the year essentially offline)
