Institutional Overview
Through healing, education, and love, the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) empowers orphaned and vulnerable Rwandan youth to build lives of dignity and contribute to a better world. Since 2008, we have provided over 2,000 vulnerable Rwandan youth, ages 14–22, with the secondary school education, extracurricular activities, medical and mental health services, and family environment they need to heal from past trauma and build fulfilling lives.

Events & Board Relations Associate
Overview
The Events & Board Relations Associate supports all activities of the Board of Directors and its
committees and manages the ASYV events portfolio. The Events & Board Relations Associate
reports to ASYV’s Chief Advancement and Strategy Officer.
This position can be remote or hybrid in the New York City area. The position will include
staffing New York events and travel to Rwanda or regional sites for the Board retreat every year.

Responsibilities
Board Relations
● Support the Board and its committees to meet their strategic goals
● Coordinate all aspects of Board and committee meetings, including lists, timelines,
schedules, agendas, minute taking and circulation, logistics, RSVPs, and technology
● Manage the logistics, including travel, meals, hotels, etc. for annual Board retreat in
Rwanda or New York
● Implement all administrative aspects of Board member onboarding and governance,
including Board Book, forms, and legal disclosures
● Serve as liaison to the Board

Events Management
● Manage the planning and execution of annual Village Time gala including workflow
between staff and the gala consultant, eblasts, event committee management, and
program.
● Coordinate travel and lodging logistics for ASYV alumni who attend Village Time gala
● Plan and implement smaller fundraising events, including group dinners, cocktail parties,
and educational events, including securing venues, managing contracts and budgets,
invitation process, and event design.
● Create fundraising pages and websites for events.

General Administration
● Office administrative support as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree and at least three years of events related development experience
● Experience in Board or donor relations
● Skills with Microsoft Office suite, experience with Raiser’s Edge, Classy, Canva, and
Constant Contact, or comparable systems
● Strong skills in written and oral communication and organization
● Strong attention to detail
● Ability to make decisions, maintain confidentiality, and to work collaboratively across an
organization and as a member of a team
● Comfort with communicating across cultural differences
● Interest in the work of the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village and dedication to its Core
Values

Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $65,000 to $69,000. Benefits include
PTO; medical, dental, and life insurance; and a 401k plan that includes personalized investment
guidance, among others. The position begins after May 27, 2025.

Chief Advancement Officer
Position Summary
We are seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) as we unveil a strategic plan focused on long-term fiscal sustainability, programmatic scale and systems-change work, and earned income. This is a rare opportunity for a values-driven, results-oriented leader to step into a high-impact role with a globally-respected nonprofit and help shape the future for children across Rwanda, and globally.
The CAO will lead our fundraising, Board relations, and communications efforts and help ensure ASYV’s long-term impact and sustainability. As the most senior staff member in the U.S., the CAO will partner closely with our Rwanda-based CEO, Board of Directors, and staff teams to drive strategic revenue growth, elevate global awareness, and deepen relationships with our community of donors and supporters. Pivotal to this role is a profound connection to ASYV’s mission, a commitment to cultivating a healthy team environment, and a passion for relationship development.

Location
This position is remote-friendly, in the Philadelphia to Boston corridor only, with an office located in NYC.
The position requires monthly travel within the New York to Boston area, domestic travel up to quarterly, and annual to bi-annual travel to Rwanda.

Responsibilities
Development
● Build, develop and implement comprehensive annual and long-term fundraising plans to meet
annual revenue goals and overall strategic goals.
● Partner with the Board of Directors and CEO to develop and implement a long-range strategic
plan to insure long term fiscal sustainability of the Village.
● Oversee fundraising pipelines; grow annual fundraising campaigns; cultivate, steward, and solicit
ASYV’s highest-level donors, in partnership with CEO; and manage a diverse event portfolio.
● Represent ASYV in external-facing work with donors, partners, and other stakeholder
communities.
● Develop corporate strategy and portfolio
● Ensure effective development operations and staff effectiveness
● Ensure all fundraising activities comply with nonprofit regulations and ethical standards.
Management
● Foster a collaborative and results-oriented culture within the six-member New York team that
embraces teamwork, transparency, communication, and mentorship.

Marketing/Communications
● Oversee skilled donor communications staff in creation of annual donor communications and
marketing materials.
● Lead efforts to broaden ASYV’s visibility and reach globally.

Board and Committees
● Partner with the Board Chair and CEO to develop and engage the Board of Directors; support
Board recruitment, retention, and communications; oversee staff administration of the Board.
● Work closely with the CFO, financial teams, and the Fiscal Committee to forecast annual revenue goals and review cash flow monthly and quarterly.

Skills and Experience
● BA/BS with 7+ years of experience in a senior development role with a US based non-profit
organization, with increasing responsibility across major gifts, events, and corporate giving.
● 5+ years of experience hiring, building, and managing a development team that successfully
aligns fundraising goals with organizational strategy.
● Proven experience developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising plans that meet
annual revenue goals of $6-10M+
● Proven experience as the primary institutional relationship holder for major gifts and cultivating
relationships with high-net-worth individuals.
● Expertise with donor databases and utilizing fundraising software for donor relationship
management, Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred.
● Proven ability to forecast diverse income streams.
● Expertise with Board or fiduciary committee management.
● Familiarity with fundraising in international development, youth development, or humanitarian
organizations.
● Ability to manage details and think strategically.
● Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex
issues in a clear and compelling manner.
● Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders, including
donors, board members, and program staff.
● Ability to work effectively across cultures and geographic distance.
