Dear SDTIC community:

Please Save the Date!  Our next SDTIC virtual meeting will be held on February 28th, 2025.

Time slots: 8:30 am – 10:30 am PST; 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, EST; 16.30 - 18.30, GMT; 19.30 - 21.30 TRT

Larry Nucci, UC Berkeley, is the organizer for a session entitled:  Domain Coordination: Issues of Theory and Research.

ABSTRACT: Domain coordination is a key construct in social cognitive domain theory.  It accounts for complexity and contextual variability in moral decision-making and allows for a more robust developmental account of social and moral reasoning than prior theoretical frameworks.  Moreover, some research has examined levels of complexity in domain coordination as a factor in reasoning about complex social situations, and as an indicator of the impact of educational practices.  The purpose of this meeting is to focus on this core construct by highlighting some exciting research by our emerging scholars that illuminates work in this area, and by engaging in an in-depth analysis of the open questions and unresolved issues of theory surrounding this key aspect of domain theory.

SPEAKERS
Part 1 features talks from Maia Southwick, UC Davis; Marc Jambon, Wilfred Laurier University; Elise Kaufman, University of Maryland

Part 2 features talks from Elliot Turiel, UC Berkeley; Judith Smetana, University of Rochester; and Cecilia Wainryb, University of Utah

Q&A sessions will follow each panel.

Zoom links will be sent a few weeks from Tal Walzer before the meeting, following a reminder in January!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi Melanie -

Thank you for sending out this announcement.

However, when it gets sent out again after the holiday break, please change the second section from individual talks to a panel discussion with Elliot Turiel, Jiudith Smetana and Cecilia Wainryb on issues of theory and unanswered questions regarding domain coordination.

Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Larry
