Dear Division E Members,

I am writing to invite you to join a unique training opportunity to elevate your voice and impact. Especially important given the moments we find ourselves currently in.

We are convening a cohort of 35 scholars, faculty, students, advocates, and change makers who are from Division E to participate in The OpEd Project’s internationally recognized “Write To Change The World and Connection Wokrshop” on Thursday March 20th and Friday March 21st.

Participants will join a cohort of like-minded peers, will experience high impact training led by professional journalists and media leaders, and will receive substantial follow up support. Previous participants have described The OpEd Project’s experiences as transformative, practical, unique and life changing. More details are below. Applications can be submitted here, with a deadline of February 28th.

__________

DATES/TIME: Thursday March 20th and Friday March 21st ; 11am – 3pm EST (8am-12pm PST; 10am-2pm CST)

LOCATION: Zoom

DESCRIPTION: “Write to Change the World” Workshop

The OpEd Project’s core “Write To Change The World” workshop is a discovery based interrogation of authority and knowledge, that walks participants through a method for changing hearts and minds, connects them to a network of journalist mentors, and results in them publishing op-eds (if they wish). It also provides valuable tools for anyone seeking to build a case for something new (new book, new business, new policy, new research,

etc).

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT:

All participants who complete will receive the following after each workshop:

  • One month following: access to journalist mentors for individual feedback on op-ed drafts; access to weekly “Ask a journalist” office hours for support & advice/

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Actively participate in the workshop(s) in full (no dipping in and out). This includes being present for the duration of each day, and camera on as much as possible.
  • Write and pitch an opinion (op-ed) piece in the month after the workshop
  • Engage authentically and respectfully with fellow participants
