Dear all,

We have a variety of PhD topics at LAMSADE this year of interest to students who would like to do research on social choice. LAMSADE is the computer science laboratory of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL, where we take a multi-disciplinary approach to studying decision making, with computational social choice being a major focus area.

Topics include "Proportional Representation with Ranked Preferences" (Stéphane Airiau and Dominik Peters), "Preferences and Value Alignment in AI" (Paolo Viappiani), "Stable Matching with Incomplete Preferences" (Lucie Galand and Julien Lesca), "Social choice for Sustainability" (Stefano Moretti and Hugo Gilbert), and "Algorithmic Game Theory and Computational Social Choice with Agent Hierarchies" (Laurent Gourvès).

There is also a separate call for a PhD student to work on "Translating preference statements expressed in natural language to formal preference languages; applications to collective decision making" to be supervised by Jérôme Lang and Benjamin Negrevergne.

The formal application should be sent in April, but students should contact the prospective supervisor early and only proceed with the application when the supervisor agrees.

In addition, there is a call for a postdoc offered by Fondation PSL (associated with PSL, the meta-university that Dauphine belongs to) about impact philanthropy: https://static.psl.eu/sites/default/files/2026-03/AAP%20Post-doc%20Philanthro.%202026.pdf If there are people interested in taking a social choice perspective to philanthropy, you can contact me and we can think about potentially applying for this position.

Best
Dominik
