In July 2009, I sent a message to this group indicating that Christine
and I would be breathing new life into the original Social Actions
Google group. All sorts of challenges intervened to derail that effort.
Eight months later, we're ready to start using this Google group again.
We plan to host conversations here about Social Actions' overall
operations, and will be tagging messages with the following prefaces:
"Funding -", "Finances -", "Communications -" and "Management -".
While these may not be the most exciting of topics, we want to make sure
conversations relating to Social Actions as an organization are
inclusive and publicly archived.
There are currently 72 members on the original Social Actions Google
group. I hope that many of you will join us in stewarding Social
Actions' overall operations. At the same time, I realize that some of
you may not want to receive multiple emails per day as we sort through
the topics mentioned above.
Rather than leave the group, I'd encourage you to update your email
delivery settings:
To update your email delivery settings:
1. Go to http://groups.google.com/group/social-actions
2. Click on "Edit my membership" in the right hand column
3. Select one of four options: "No email; Abdridged Email; Digest Email;
or Email)
We'll continue to use the Social Actions Developers Google group for
more techie conversations about APIs, XML, linked data, and web
applications. In addition, I'll be creating a new Google Group for
updates and conversations among the 60+ organizations that contribute
opportunities to the Social Actions API. This new Google group will play
a similar role to the Google group we setup last year for the Social
Entrepreneur API project.
Thanks for reading through this update and for accommodating the
changes. More importantly, I hope 2010 is treating all of you well. If
your 2009 was anything like mine, I imagine the new year and new decade
have come with a huge sigh of relief and much anticipation.
All the best,
Peter
