Hi Social Actions google group,

After circulating the 'requests for fiscal sponsorship' document far and
wide, we have found an affordable fiscal sponsor that offers
comprehensive administrative and banking services as well as an
excellent boost by association.

Mobilize.org is a non-partisan 501(c)3 organization based in Washington
DC and Berkeley, California.

In their words

"Mobilize.org is an all-partisan network dedicated to educating,
empowering, and energizing young people to increase our civic engagement
and political participation. We work to show young people how public
policy impacts our lives, and more importantly – how we can impact
public policy

"Our theory of change starts with the individual citizen identifying
problems at the local, state and national levels. Once problems are
identified, citizens must engage in conversations searching for
innovative solutions to the problems they have identified. Mobilize.org
seeks to take the individual actor past the deliberation stage, enabling
members of the Millennial Generation to implement their solutions.
Through the success of citizen-generated initiatives, Mobilize.org's end
goal is to institutionalize citizen-generated solutions as a staple of
American governance at all levels.:"

Despite the emphasis on policy and governance, the ethos and substance
of Mobilize.org's work is extremely congruent with Social Actions. They
have a vast network of campus-based chapters that train young people on
effective organizing.

In addition to providing Social Actions with a legal and fiscal home,
Maya (their CEO) and I feel that the two organizations have plenty of
collaborative opportunities to seek out over the coming months.

I'm writing to ask for your permission to enter into a fiscal
sponsorship agreement with Mobilize.org. Please have a look at the
attached contract. I look forward to your question, concerns, thumbs up
and thumbs down.

Note: Although the contract says that it started on October 15, neither
Maya or I have signed it yet. Her board approved the fiscal sponsorship
last week. But the agreement would only take effect once both of us have
signed it.

All the best,
Peter

IMHO, Peter, permission is granted!

Other thoughts, folks?

Quick thoughts as I give this my thumbs up, too:

Pros:
Similar mission (and strong opportunities to support each others' work)
Well-respected group
Low fee relative to typical fiscal sponsorship

Cons:
Associates Social Actions with a "youth" organization, although this would change over time as the millenial generation ages. Not really sure this goes into a "con" category, either, maybe it's just something to be aware of?
