Hey folks,

In the course of writing about and telling people about socialactions,
I'm noticing a couple of things on the website that I wanted to
mention or suggest:

1--on the home page, the right box ends before the text does (at least
on my Firefox 3.XX browser), leaving a line of text looking like it's
being struck out by the bottom of the box.

2--it's possible to take one action and post it on one's blog or
something like that--I haven't quite figured it out, but it's
possible. With the holiday coming, how hard would it be to add a
"wishlist" component where searchers could chose a bunch of projects
and create an online list for their friends and family to donate to in
lieu of holiday/birthday/event gifts? Everyone else seems to be doing
it--Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, etc.

3--it is unclear how to navigate from the blogs/member section back to
the homepage. Once I get to blog.socialactions.com, even clicking on
the large logo on top brings me back to the blog homepage (which is a
great page, but not the homepage). Similarly, from the homepage, it's
unclear how to get to my blog page or the blogs section in general.
On the blog page, there is a small search box in the top, but I'm not
clear from looking at it if it will search the blogs or actions or
both. Is there a way to make the blog sections and search/homepage
sections more interlinked or is there intentionally a difference
between the blogs (ie. community) and the actions database?

4--is there a difference between a group, a forum, and a blog? What's
the difference and can that be posted somewhere, like a help file? Or
is this one of those things everyone except me already knows?

Sorry, my tech-un-savvy-ness is showing. Is there someplace to
compile all the site suggestions or is this group THE PLACE?

Thanks,

Lexine

Lexi, *thank you* for taking the time to share these ideas and questions. Your suggestions are fantastic. No apologies for un-tech-savviness: this is just the kind of critique we need to make sure the site is useful.

Keep the suggestions coming here, for now, although I like the idea of a "site/blog feedback" feature and will add that to the list of desired changes.

Christine

For everyone on this list, a quick note that we want to move the
conversation with advisors over to Basecamp. If you're interested in
joining our Social Actions basecamp account as a Social Actions mentor /
volunteer / supporter, please let me know.

Hi Lexi,

I'm in complete agreement with your suggestions. Our next design
challenge is to figure out the purpose and appropriate structure of our
Social Actions blog.

We'll keep you in the loop as that conversation evolves.

All the best,
Pteer
