I finally got some time to figure out the Google Charts axis labels
and scaling - this project tracks 4 standard metrics per action source
(including all the sources, which is the default. You can use it to
get a sense of relative performance within a particular action source
(are they not updating as frequently, are there a lot of "old" actions
in the system). You can also compare sources but I would guard
against that - the actions coming from each can be quite different.
As always, please compare what you see with reality before
recommending anything to an action source. :-)

I'd like to start tracking a second set of metrics, using only the
actions which were created in, say, the last month, which may give
more accurate numbers for some metrics. Other than that - any ideas?
Is there anything you think we should start tracking?

By the way, the source code for this project is available as a
read-only SVN repository. If you want to contribute, let me know and
I'll give you write access.

Hi Ehren,

I'm just getting to your email from last Monday. First, thank you as
always for the work you are doing on the metrics front. It is very
important.

A few observations:

1 - As far as I know, we are not currently tracking 'goal' for any of
the action sources other than DonorsChoose. I'm not sure how/why data
for 'goal' is showing up for the other action sources. Along the same
lines, few if any of the actions are getting updated once aggregated. So
I'm surprised to see data that indicates the actions have been updated.

2 - I think the most immediately helpful metrics would be to post at the
top of each action source page: a) number of actions in the system; b)
total number of clickthroughs (hits) for the action source; c) average
number of clickthroughs per action; and d) number of click-throughs in
the last week, month, and 3 months. This last metric, 'number of
click-throughs in the last week, month, and 3 months' is only available
by accessing the log CSV file w/ SSH.

3 - As far as new charts are concerned, it might also be neat to show a
chart of actions added to the system over a period of time.

Let me know if you have any thoughts about any of these suggestions.
What do others think?

All the best,
Peter
