Hi all,

I'm tentatively planning on activating W6/SC-352 this coming Sunday using FreeDV 700D as part of the Digital Voice challenge (more info: http://www.southgatearc.org/news/2019/october/the-sota-2020-flavours-challenge.htm). I will likely be on 20 meters at that time around 1800Z (1000 local). As a backup, I'll bring my DMR HT and attempt to get a few contacts on 70cm simplex as well.

Anyway, I'll spot myself (on SOTAwatch3 and http://qso.freedv.org/ depending on whether my phone cooperates) once I'm there and the exact frequency's known; the usual FreeDV frequency of 14236 KHz tends to have analog QSOs at least partly on that ~3 KHz chunk a fair bit of the time.

Thanks,

BTW, current forecast calls for rain in the afternoon, so hopefully that still holds. If not, this might be delayed to the 7th.

Roger that,

I've recently put a Anytone 578 DMR mobile in my house gooked to a Diamond X-50 so no problem.  I also have one in my car.  I was planning a SOTA on Saturday but if it's not going to rain until afternoon, I might attempt on on Sunday.

I've programmed 441.000 for DMR simplex.  KCTGNV, Brian, has most of the people on the SD hangout (TG 310) using his code plug with 441.000 digital setup.  Feel free to jump on the TG and ask if anyone is interested in a DMR simplex.  There is someone on there all the time.

Have fun.

Oh yeah, I talk to KC2GNV a fair bit on that TG during my commute to/from work. I had to make my own codeplug since I use a MD-380 but I'm fairly sure it has the standard simplex frequencies on it. I'll double-check for sure and ask on there when activation rolls around.

That sounds cool! And would be an excuse for me to fire up freedv.
Why haven't I tried it, yet??? :-)
