Good to see Jeff and Charles with you in San Gabriel. Those two guys have many 2M contacts in my log.

Question for you: what’s the story on that speaker wire antenna?

If you were to have one of those for both 40 and 20, you’d be pretty well covered for any SOTA outing, except during a contest. (I usually prefer 30 and 17 then).

Hey Nate,

It was really cool to have those guys tag along, great company for sure!  I do hope we get to do it again and like you they occupy a large portion of my SOTA logbook as well.

As for the speaker wire antenna, it’s awesome!  I’ve had quite a few requests for info on that home-brew antenna so I’m going to video me building another one, maybe a 40m, as the concept is the same.  I opted for 20m to start since the wire lengths are shorter but it’s super simple idea and does NOT require a tuner once cut.  Pick your band and build it to length and tune it is all it really takes but I will do a video very soon to show the idea and what I used.

Cool video. It was esp. neat to hear the voice of some of the chasers I’ve worked for years, but only ever made qso’s with via CW.

Hey guys,

I have been out activating with all this good weather we have been enjoying here in So Cal and most importantly USING my speaker wire antenna, but I have not forgotten about my plan to do a video on how I made it.  Actually, I'm really field testing it's worth before I do the video but yesterday I picked up Italy so it's work well. :)
