Hey Gents (not sure if there's any ladies in the group)-

Hope you're all doing well.

Just wanted to let you know that I have a work-related trip to SoCal this coming week and next week.

I should be free to perhaps activate a peak or two on Sunday, 8 April, if any of you want to do a group activation.

I'd really like to hike Badon-Powell (it's a favorite of mine), though I'm unsure of what the conditions are up there.

If the peaks north of LA are untenable, I'm also happy to go to the desert areas east of San Diego.

I'll be staying at the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station.

Let me know if you want to go play.

73,
Nate N0PCL

I'm interested!  Would be nice to do a double.

Was just there today, but instead of summiting, instead went to explore the old gold mine and vincent’s cabin. Still looked like quite a bit of snow on the northern exposure, which is where you’d be. But, unsure of actual trail conditions. I imagine it’s all tamped down and at most need microspikes, probably not even that.

I don’t have my microspikes so I think another peak might be better.

Any ideas?

Looking to do this on Sunday.

I'm still in. My preference would be something closer to San Diego. Tahquitz Peak W6/CT-007 is a nice one via the South Ridge or from Humber Park. It should be less windy there too (30mph is forecasted).

I’m good with Tahquitz.  Let’s do that.  It’s a good one.

I’ve got my 817 and an HT.

I’m probably good with an early start considering I’m still stuck on Eastern time.

I’d like to join you as well. I’m in San Diego. Need to double check with the Fam calendar.

Sweet, my mom and step dad will be joining me. I'm picking them up in santa ysabel at 6am and should be at the South Ridge trailhead around 8am after picking up a permit at the ranger station (I'll get one for all of us).

Nate,

I just did Waterman Mountain today. The conditions in the San Gabriel’s are perfect right now. Baden Powell is also one of my favorites and was first on my bucket list when I started in January. I put and American Flag on Baden Powell Jan 31st and made a video of it along with the activation. Hope you get up there soon.
