I was told yesterday by the seal beach jurisdiction lifeguards to
inform you all that for those days that wind comes up early before
2pm, we can launch north the Anderson st tower but past delimiter by
jetty area!, lifeguards are forcing kiters to walk all the way there
to set up and launch. But the most important thing is to remain then
on the jetty area + waves AWAY from swimmers specially on that stretch
in front of homes.
The problem is (based on lifeguard concerns) when we head upwind from
Sunset flags on a crowded summer day with marginal wind, it is hard to
get there and requires multiple tacks, causing kiters to maximize
upwind reach unnecessarily very close to the beach, so the
recommendation is to go deep and tack out long and away from shore.
The seal beach jurisdiction lifeguards are getting tired of turning on
siren and calling us on speaker, we're warned to comply or (and I
quote) "they'll start writing tickets", it's all common sense after
all specially on busy summer months, swimmers will always take
precedence so exercise caution.
