I spoke with Jason Young today from USOS. The buoys anchored between
11th and Broadway are a reference point for the kite launch/land
zone. USOS will adjust them a little because they are further out
than the 300' mark they want. The idea is to try and kite out and
return between the buoys - but it's understood that we should use the
marks as a reference and it's ok to kite out and back reasonably near
that zone. The buoys also mark the distance away from shore that
USOS / county ordinance allows us to kite.
USOS is not in charge of the area north of Anderson water tower. So
that's the logical answer to surf waves. Jason did ask that if kiters
choose to launch up near Anderson that they walk far enough north so
when they tack out, they are still north of the water tower.
Launch times same as last year: after 2 pm weekdays, 3 pm weekends.
Sounds easy enough to me. Stoked we have a nice place to kite and free
parking. Keep it safe + self police = keep Sunset open.
