Dear all,

As we go through this difficult and uncertain times in our lives due to coronavirus, there is a significant rise in anxiety and stress levels affecting our mental well being.

The physical isolation certainly helps prevent the spread of this virus but stopping the mind from continuously worrying about all the worst case scenarios, which may never actually happen, is much harder to do. I myself am finding it hard to get a restful night of sleep and I am sure many of you feel the same.

The need for practicing social distancing also presents a unique opportunity to practice going inwards through the use of various meditation techniques which are known to bring an incredible sense of calm and peace.

In Sikhism , the meditation technique is very simple and anyone can do it very easily. We meditate using the word “WAHEGURU”, which is the name we use for the almighty.

The technique involves saying the word WAHEGURU with every breath. The most important part being to LISTEN to your OWN SOUND as you say the word WAHEGURU, and not letting the mind wander around. This helps slowly detach the mind from the endless stream of other thoughts and brings peace and calm that continues long after the meditation session is over.

I am involved with a small group here in Orange County, CA that mediates together on a daily basis using a dial-in conference call number.

See below for the dial-in information, if you would like to join. Joining for even a short duration of 15-20 mins, to start, can be very beneficial. We start and send the meditation session with a small prayer but most of the time is spent in meditating on the word WAHEGURU.
