I found the following people in the CAcert WoT Assurer directory for
"Laguna Niguel, CA" in the 20km circle. Each of them gave me 35
points each.

Haral Tsitsivas assured me at a UUASC/OC meeting at Sun Microsystems
near SNA airport. I have since found that Dave Close is also a CAcert
WoT Assurer who attends the UUASC/OC meetings. I only searched a 10km
radius while Dave Close is 20km away so I missed him. I should have
announced why I was there at the UUASC/OC meeting when I introduced
myself.

Tamara H. and Jeffrey K. at a Starbucks by Avery Pkwy. and Interstate
5. They had the foresight to allow me to assure them at the same time
so I could start my notary duties. These two have since moved to
Carlsbad, and they are no longer in the 20km circle from Laguna
Niguel.

Once you acquire 100 points, subsequent points can only be acquired by
assuring others. Immediately after reaching 100, each 10 point
assurance you make gives you 2 points. I will attempt to update what
the next tier is when I reach it.

I am now meeting with other assurers who can only issue less than 35
points for mutual assurances so we can both increase our points a
little at a time. Thus, James W. and I met at The Neighborhood Cup
(free WIFi) in Aliso Viejo attached to the far corner of the library.

My little 20km circle is now empty.

Thawte WoT Assurance has been much more of a challenge. The Notary
Directory is very stale, and my complaints to Thawte to get obsolete
entries removed are ignored. Bounce backs and no replies occur for
most of the free notaries I have e-mailed. One was nice enough to say
he was not doing it any longer, but he is still listed in the
directory. The following are the people who assured me and the
locations of the meeting.

Jonathan Kristein Cohen (35 points) at his residence in Irvine.
Stephen Billard (15 points) at the Starbucks by Brookhurst and Ellis
in Fountain Valley.
David Stoler (35 points) at his residence in Garden Grove.
Matthew Huntley (35 potential points) has replied to my initial e-
mail, but I am still waiting for him to find a meeting place.

I am only meeting with free assurers. Presumably, the ones who charge
would be easier to contact and meet with for an assurance. I have not
contacted any. I'm too cheap.

http://biglumber.com/, a PGP keyserver, is organized similar to
CAcert's and Thawte's WoT Notary Directory with location information
for local PGP key signing meetings.
