Who and What is Conservative?
Think about conservatives and
who come to mind. Pundits might be Mark Levin, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Bill
Whittle and many others. Politicians might be Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, Paul
Ryan, Mike Lee, or Louis Golmer. The
dictionary defines political conservatism as; “the disposition in politics or
culture to maintain the existing order and to resist or oppose change or
innovation”. And it defines conservative as; “tending to favor the preservation
of the existing order and to regard proposals for change with distrust”. Does
anyone really want to be that? It might have been a good position within the
first week our Constitution was signed, before people in government began
perverting it for their own purposes. Is this what self-proclaimed
conservatives want? Is this what the “movement” stands for? Do conservatives
describe themselves this way? Or are we just folks who want to stop the
deterioration of our Founding Principles and the march towards totalitarianism?
If so, then that is not conservatism any more than liberalism represents the
liberal exercise of liberty.
Let’s go a step further, into
what really matters. What does today’s conservatism DO? What does it look like?
What function does it perform? We are what we do, not what we claim. If “being
conservative” means doing what is necessary to rein in government expenditures,
domestic aggression, overreach, and intrusion into our lives and making sure politicians are
held accountable for violating their oaths of office, then there are none in
government today. What would that actually
look like? It would be very ugly these days.
There would be trials, impeachments, public hangings, long prison
sentences and an elected class that would be scared to death of we the people. If
elected Republicans are considered the bastion of conservatism, then being
conservative means to select and support moderately liberal candidates to shove
down the throats of anyone to the right of socialism and go along with the
opposition party without taking too much heat from constituents or political
enemies, and do anything to please the donor class. And apparently much of the purpose of the
conservative “chattering class” is to support the conservative ruling class,
destroy anyone attempting entry without proper “creds” and to be a more
positive source of misinformation. All
across the board, most conservatives, with precious few exceptions actually DO
or ACCOMPLISH anything for the good of America, Americans, or our
Constitution. Most endorsed Juan
McAmnesty for president, proving they are actually liberal. Mark Levin, Rush
Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter were some of the few who refused. Any value,
integrity, or beneficence that conservatism may ever have had has been
completely destroyed by those who claim to be part of it. Any similarities today’s GOP may share with
Ronald Reagan, Calvin Coolidge, or Abraham Lincoln are obviously completely
accidental. Let’s not forget that at the 2011 GOP convention John Boehner tried
to pass a voice vote resolution to prevent a grass roots conservative from ever
getting the party’s nomination. After 3 votes
of overwhelming “NO’s” he declared it passed anyway. This is, apparently, today’s conservatism
because this is the party so-called conservatives support.
Obviously, yesterday’s
intelligent conservative has become today’s constitutional patriot. Today’s conservative could be someone who has
tasted the GOP’s Kool Aid and believes that losing presidential campaigns with party-appointed
liberal candidates is a successful activity. They believe that patriots who get
shot defending the Constitution deserve what they get for defying the federal
government. None understand or most likely never read the Constitution and fit
the profile of the most intelligent remark ever made by Joe Biden when he
commented, “Most American Don’t care anything about their Constitutional
rights.” Very true which is very sad. Ask
them how it is possible for all these ranchers to be in violation of
trespassing on federal land when the Constitution forbids the federal
government from owning land outside Washington,
D.C., harbors, and forts? Their silence
is their ignorance is why they cling so bitterly to their party and Washington
Post. CONSERVATIVES ARE THE FOLKS WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVE WHAT THE GOVERNMENT AND
MEDIA TELL THEM. Those of us who realize that the government and their media
tell us lies or nothing at all have transformed from conservatives to
constitutional patriots. Conservatives are the ones who voted for Mitty and
McAmnesty. They are the ones who believe
that Cliven Bundy, LaVoy Finicum, and the 79 people slaughtered in Waco got what they
deserved for defying the government.
They are the ones who consider it honorable to pay all their taxes when
we know that the most unpatriotic thing one can do with a dollar is to let the
government get a piece of it. Patriots know better, conservatives don’t.
Conservatives still cling to the myth that government can be a force for
good. Politically there are only 2 types
of people; those who believe government is a solution and those who, like America’s
Founders realize that government is the perpetual source of problems.
Thomas Paine said ,
“Government is, at best, a necessary evil and at worst, an intolerable one”.
EVIL, A NECESSARY EVIL. We do not need government to save us from soda pop,
cigarettes, or our own weapons. We require Paine’s NECESSARY EVIL to keep
general order amongst the states and be minimal. Conservatives don’t agree with
this, Constitutional patriots do. I am now and forever NOT a conservative, but
a constitutional patriot. So don’t tell me my candidate is not conservative
enough for you. Don’t make not being conservative sound like something
bad. I’m throwing out my conservative
Kool Aid, and burning my conservative card and shrugging off the GOP
shackles. I’m an American constitutional
patriot. Who is with me?
