my town recently had a beautifully organized clean-up day, with 250
people volunteering. a friend reported that a very conservative old
lady friend of hers, after commenting on how well organized the event
was, asked if the two organizers, a lesbian couple, were "friends."
yes, she was told. "well, so-and-so is such a hard worker, and
whatshername has so much energy... no wonder they got together."

small towns. republicans. times change. (or don't, actually.)
