This is the first time that I have seen this subject in soc.veterans. And
it is such an interesting political thing, judging from the groups to which
it has been posted (meaning that it has nothing to do with the real world)

All babies are unborn before they are born, but then, after they are born,
they are also unborn.
I leave you to ponder that, but anyway, someone should cite some site that
confirms the politically inspired notion that someone, somewhere, is
actually killing unborn babies to "harvest" (I like this stupid non-medical,
but very political rabble-rousing phrase) stem cells.
Basically, no babies (of any species) need to be killed. The Japanese have
isolated stem cells from wisdom teeth....

And any thinking person (which is no politicized person) knows that stem
cells can be derived from other sources.
But that's not the point anyway, is it boys and girls? No. The point is to
take a medical procedure and politicize it so as to divide the population
into "them" and "us." And most people fall for this crap. They are called
the politicized people. They are called Republicans or they are called
Democrats. But it does not matter. They are all politicized. Science
suffers.

Yes exactly. But anti-choice fanatics (who are often so because
someone else told them to be) use this kind of hyperbolic and
inaccurate language all the time to try and define the issue. It's
absurd and unacceptable.

Some politicize it more than others. Namely, the hypocritical right
wing, who display moral inconsistencies all the time, display even
more on this issue. And you are correct: science suffers as a result
of their "all or nothing" polarization and red herrings.

bush is trying to do something; he wants -- and has proposed draft
regulations in the pipeline -- that will make birth control equal to
abortion, and that will also try to make abortion into a criminal act...
