Ya beat me to it. I was sent this about an hour ago, but hadn't posted
it here yet.
I need to run the numbers on Houston: they seem to have one case
exactly like this, and always at this time of year.
Something seems suspicious.

Well, I ran 'em on the whole state. Not as I suspected, but still
disturbing.
Note, though, that it does come on the one year anniversary of Brandi
Houston's murder in 2001, and in the same space (though less than a
month off) of two Houston murders in 1999. Luna was also killed in
March of 2001 in Houston, and Julia Carrizales rounds out the Houston
cases.
No pattern that I see (and I am not one who tends to believe in
conspiracies), but still curious.

Disturbing doesn't cover it. The infant horribly tortured to death by
it's mother, for being born intersexed, all the TG women killed.

Well, I was thinking "disturbing" in a serial killer sort of way. I
was looking for similarities between the January cases and such.
Whilke there are some similar things, they may not be enough to support
any such theory.
...but yes, the infant case is one of the more horrific I have ever
found. I simply do not have the words to express my disgust on that
one.

As a child I was brought up in a evangelical fundamentalist church called
the Church of Christ (sort of Southern Baptist I guess), Our church was in
Wales UK and supported by a church in Houston TX, and sometimes one would
get preachers come over to the UK. Some seemed reasonally nice people on the
surface if you could forgive the ideas on racial sepratism, white supremacy
and a pathalogical hatred of homosexuals and other "queers" and I suppose as
a child it is easy to get nievely taken in by anything that one's parents
believe in and a lot of things go over your head because you just don't
understand, (my parents were so involved with this church though that I
ended up speaking with a sort of mid-atlantic Southern drawl. Which was
unusual in Wales)
However I remember one day when I got older there was this preacher who had
come over from Houston and was preaching about this an that, but for some
reason he seemed to have a particular dislike of homeosexuals and
Trensgendered people and he seemed to be looking right at me and suddenly it
dawned on me that the guy was a complete nutcase he was spitting and
contoring like a demon and seemed like like the epitome of evil and you know
how sometimes how people seem to be unreal, and one can't imagine how they
could possibly be human he was such a person. Since he had already gone over
time and was still in full rant and I thought, what a dickhead. I just got
up and left, and that was pretty much the end of Christianity for me.
Anyway if there are people like that from Houston TX I can well believe
there could be seriel killers there targeting the TG community there are
some real head bangers there. I've met them.

Perhaps the adversity is exactly why Houston seems to be the hotspot
of all TG activism in Texas. Houston used to have an
anti-crossdressing law, which the community managed to get repealed.
There are several (4 or 5) organized TG support/social groups in the
Houston area as compared to two that I'm aware of in the DFW area and
two in Austin. Most of the people who participate in our lobbying
effort are from Houston and it's the HQ of TGAIN.
I go to Houston on occasion to visit my sister but have only been
there as Lilith for more than a day on a couple of them. However,
since I'm now fulltime that means I can't pick and choose anymore.
My recommendation is to stick to the more public areas if you're
afraid of someone causing you harm. The worst that could happen is a
case of public embarassment.

Yup. "Every action" and all that. And Houston has had some pretty
darned good activists over time.

Unnamed Infant with Ambiguous Genitalia
Location: Dallas, Texas
Cause of Death: Blunt force trauma to the head, as well as
strangulation, allegedly by the child's mother, Aruna Kavili.
Date of Death: December 8, 1999
Source: The Dallas Morning News, February 12, 2000
-----
Ambiguous Genitalia Leads To Infant零 Death
In an evolving case in Dallas, Texas, a mother has been charged with
killing her own child on December 8, 1999, simply because the child was
born with ambiguous genitalia.
The baby was three days old, and died of blunt force trauma to the
head, as well as strangulation.
Investigators were initally told that, while Gangaudaya Kavali, the
father, was at the store, and his wife, Aruna Kavili, was in the
bathroom, a stranger entered the apartment, grabbed the newborn from a
couch and threw him outside.
Dallas police have concluded that this was not the case, noting that
their investigation has shown that the newborn was dead only three
hours after his parents brought him home from the hospital. Further,
physical evidence did not support the couple零 account.
A Collin County Medical Examiner also found shards of glass in the
baby零 esophagus and small intestine, possibily indicating that someone
initally tried to kill the child by forcing them to eat glass, in an
effort to cause internal bleeding.
Investigators from Child Protective Services, who have custody of the
parents 2-year-old daughter, have indicated that she appears to have
knowledge of her siblings death.
Detectives won靖 speculate whether Aruna Kavili allegedly killed her
child because she was ashamed, or because she was pressured into doing
so by her husband.
Mr. Kavali has not been charged.

Thanks *shudder* I hope that monster was convicted :(

I seriously doubt it: it is very rare that there is ever a conviction
in an anti-trans (or, in that case, anti-IS) murder. Most police
agencies would rather not deal with it. :-(
Since the case that started this thread, there has already been another
reported death. For that matter, information I received tonight
indicates that the Bibi Barajas case (the Houston case that started
this discussion) was not the first case of the year.

You'll find no disagreement from me!
I know that i'm sounding like a broken record again, but i still
don't believe that Kelly Bishop's death in Houston TX was a suicide.
Kelly's computer was stripped of all data and her Navy Seals id was
missing. The only way that we found out about her death was because
she had a card from a hormone provider in NY. The provider got a call
from the Houston PD.
I ain't staisfied that it was a suicide. I think she was killed.
