If you can't play with words, what good are they?

Words. We say we're kinky here, and, guess what? We meet others who are
kinky too. It seems to work pretty well.
There's been various symbols proposed over time. The leather pride flag is
probably the most widespread, but it's intriguing enough that people ask
what it means. I've suggested an mini-flogger leather keychain/tab as a
subtle yet deniable symbol. There's been nothing that folk have agreed
upon, save the flag.

And some of us don;t agree on that because of its resemblance to
the US flag. I won't use it because of that and last time
this came up (with a long debate) several europeans didn't like
it for the same reason.
(Also, according to the Leather Pride folk in Oz that I've talked
to, "leather" is not a synonym for What It Is That We Do but includes
things like denim fetish and uniform fetish with no exploration of
pain or power involved.)
I rather like the form of triskellion that has been promoted, but
it will takre a long time for that to get known. A mini handcuff
sounds good but there is the "are you a perv?" "no I'm a cop"
problem.

Look at the website I referenced in the orginal post. I'm thinking of
a block of text that can be added to the end of a post to tell other
pervs just what your tastes are, and to what extent.

Here we go:
Whore Code 2.0

The long strings in the second row are "k" for kink (so many letters, so
little time) and Q for equipment (what you have laying around the
bedroom). I got tired of putting in letters, so I left a few out.
If you really have the patience to figure it out, I'll be impressed. I
think these codes are fun, but it's hard to be familiar enough with them
to decode them in less than 20 minutes.

Okay--by show of hands:
Who thinks I should fuck off this weekend and probably the next building a
drag-n-drop Whore Code generator/interpreter?
I'll make it for 16-bit Windows (i.e. Win 3.x or higher) and re-use the hard
work that Elusis has already done for us in wording the descriptors ... *if*
Elusis doesn't object and other folks think it'd be fun.
And I'm glad Devon brought up the long-strings thing, 'cause I was gonna
suggest this for Whore Code 2.023 anyway--I note that in both those sections
you can put 'X' for 'something other than the above' and 'Z' for 'none of the
above' ... but 'Y' is undefined, and there are a few of us who could tighten up
the code block considerably with an 'all of the above' option.
Just a thought ... .

Interpreters work well for the geek code, eg:

How about doing it as a CGI script?

I think there needs to be a meta code protocol. Something that would allow
you to use the Geek code to describe your computer interests, the whore
code for appearence and orientation, and maybe a BDSM code that is a mix of
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/bdsm/bscq/0.0.txt
and

Not a bad idea. Unfortunately, it didn't occur to me until .8 seconds after
hitting "send", so I look like an idiot. Oh, well.
The only problem with that way of doing it is that somebody'd have to run it on
their server--aol won't let me do it, and I refuse to look into the matter any
further. So, by show of hands, who's got half a meg free with a perl
interpreter?

Getting too complicated
If you mail me the script I'll be happy to install it at an
appropriate URL under www.chiark.greenend.org.uk. I don't really have
time to write it, I'm afraid.

Zang! Well, that's settled then.
I'll mess around with it and mail you when it seems to be working. Thanks!
