This FAQ is posted to SSB on the 1st and the 15th of each month, or
as close to that as my schedule allows.

This is the intro to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) list for
the newsgroup soc.subculture.bondage-bdsm. The author of the SSB FAQ
is Johnson Grey <johnson_grey attunrealitiesdottcom>, and the master
copy can be found on the Web at:

http://www.unrealities.com/adult/ssbb/faq.htm

Johnson has pleaded Real Life to the charge of not posting it
periodically. However, he has graciously allowed me to do so,
because I wrote an html-to-ascii convertor for this some time ago.
I intend to repost this on the 1st and the 15th of each month, or
as near to that as my schedule allows.

This is Johnson's FAQ. It's not mine; I am but the instrument of its
postin^H^H^H^H (whoops, wrong kink there.) Please send comments
on its content to Johnson at the above address, and comments to me on
problems with the posting. I'm aiming for a maxmimum of 39K/820
lines per section. If your newsreader chokes on that, let me know.
The full text in one big file is available at:

http://www.magenta.com/~spectrum/faqssb.txt

Some additional comments on the FAQ:

- Section 32 deals with personal ads. I'd also suggest checking out
Zayphod's list of places to post these, put up here occasionally by
him, by LadyGold, and by TyMeDwn1st, in response to misposted personals.

- The Resources section 36 can be supplemented by Steven Davis'
incredible site at:
http://www.magenta.com/~sd/sd.html
as well as the Resources posts by Karinthia periodically on SSBB.

- If you are *sure* that there's no one in your town who could
possibly have the same twisted and perverted thoughts and desires
as yourself, I suggest:
http://www.submission.net/Groups.html
as good lists of munches and local discussion/social groups.

This FAQ deals almost entirely with *doing* kinky stuff. It's not a
FAQ for *participating* in the newsgroup soc.subculture.bondage-bdsm.
However, because people often find this FAQ as the "SSB FAQ", they
take it for the "rules of the newsgroup," and when they find little
mention of the newsgroup here, they assume "anything goes" when
posting.

That is most definitely Not True. This newsgroup is unmoderated,
but *fiercely* netcopped. The discussion is extremely wide-ranging,
but there are a few things that are Not Allowed by the Charter.
(see: http://www.mindspring.com/~frites/charter.htm}

At the peril of your ISP account, DO NOT post to SSB any:
- binaries,
- personal ads,
- commercial posts (*anything* for sale, even kinky stuff!),
- anything cross-posted to more than 5 groups,
even if these are on kinky topics. These are in clear violation of
the SSB Charter. The netcops will report you to your ISP. They're
*very* good at tracking down munged addresses.

Before you post, check out the SSB Charter, at:
http://www.mindspring.com/~frites/charter.htm
and the ASB/SSB Welcome, at:
http://www.mindspring.com/~frites/wel.htm
and your mental equilibrium will be *much* better, while posting to SSB.

and for my own take on the culture and legends of ASB/SSB, see
http://www.magenta.com/~spectrum/legends.htm

Have fun, perverts.
