kneepad question

for either kneeling or crawling? I'm especially interested in ones that worked
well for crawling.
I've never worn knee pads. I'm aware that some sports involve kneepads, also
gardening suply places have them, as do some hardware type places. I googled
and found some kneepads used for spelunking (caving) and those might be a good
bet for crawling but it's hard to tell from an online description.

A number of years ago I worked my way through skydiving jump school by
packing parachutes, spending most of the day on my knees. I found a pair of
knee pads made for skaters: molded and articulated plastic exterior (three
pieces, which matched the bend of the leg) with well-padded interior. Quite
satisfactory.

Martial arts involve some quantity of kneeling, and for that and some f the
impacts that bothered me, I used to wear kneepads. The ones intended for
volleyball worked well.

It depends on whether you want hard shell or soft knee pads, too. I haven't
spent a long time in either type, but I think I'd prefer the softer ones for
moving around. My bootblack friends seem to prefer the hard shell versions.
But then for all I know, they got used to that type doing sports or something
else entirely. I'd definitely check out sporting goods stores to try on
different types. Yeah, you probably don't want to do a lot of crawling in the
stores (or maybe you do - more power to you! *g*), but it'll at least give you
a better idea for the various possibilities. Do you have friends with
different types of pads? You don't have to tell them exactly what they're for
- maybe you're going to help out in a stage show and be on the hardwood floor
for a while.

Ok Kneepads designed for the construction industry tend to be very
comfortable and and durable think about it folks doin concrete or
flooring can spend over 8 hrs a day crawling on thier knees. What you
want to first decide is hard or soft cap. In hard caps you are looking
at good protection from sharp objects but they will scratch flooring.
Soft caps have more grip but less puncture resistance...
When shopping look for a wide back strap and firm lower support. The
pair I have for work are leather caps I got used from an estate sale.
New ones are uncomfortable till broken in. This usually means oiling
them and gettin them wet and beat up. This can take time and be fun but
if you are looking for stuff that is good to go look to the Gel pros
available from Home Depot made by CLC or Monster pads by McGuire Nichols

When I was doing some erotic dancing long ago, my SO sewed areas of
heavy padding into the knees of my thigh high boots. Having been a
bouncer at such clubs for many years, he'd seen many girls develop
serious knee problems from doing too much kneeling and crawling on a
high stage.
His solution worked very well and looked much better than I can imagine
any sporting goods style knee pads looking.
