Hello all,

I recently purchased the "WebPage Construction Kit" and started planning my
own webpage. However, I've run into a small snag. I don't want the
webpage to represent me, as much as I want to be a place where my son can
go to have fun. I've started searching the web for interesting links for
children, and I can't find many that would fit his age group.

There's lots of great stuff (in the form of games and "edutainment") for
older children, but not that much for younger ones (he's six).

Any help would be appreciated.

Prisoner.

Infoseek (www2.infoseek.com) is your friend. a quick search on "parent"
gave me a dozen appropriate sites to browse. Among them are:

-Parent Soup
http://parentsoup.com/

-Educational resources for Parents
http://www.execpc.com/~dboals/parents.html

-Siskiyou County K-12 Resource page for parents
http://www.snowcrest.net/greemanl/parents.html

-Parent Resources
http://teams.lacoe.edu/documentation/places/parents.htm.

among these sites you should find jump pages to appropriate pages. You
will probably find information as to "rated" pages, that is pages that do
not contain "adult" material.

Kids catch on quick, and in no time your child will be surfing all over
creation, so I would reccommend that you at least cursorily supervise
computer time. The web may be a playground, but it isn't a babysitter.

Good luck.

I did... and thank you. It took some scoping, but I think I've found a few
links that will keep the little whippersnapper interested. Among them a
writing group for kids (they write their own online newspaper). He'll need
a little help in that department (he speaks amazingly well, but cannot read
yet <sigh>).

I agree. I'm constantly amazed at how much he has learned. Last week, I
visited him and watched him play a game of Cmdr. Keen. He'd only had the
game for a few weeks but he's much better than me at it, and I've been
playing it (off and on) for years.

Anyway, thanks for the links...

Here is some help...try posting this in the appropriate newsgroup.

Why don't you get over yourself? This may not have been the *most*
appropriate newsgroup to glean this kind of information, but the topic
certainly isn't *in*appropriate.

Especially since Prisoner has been a regulary contributing poster for
quite a while now, and has discussed all sorts of tidbits about zir
personal life. (unless you are prepared to say that housebuilding
techniques are inappropriate and should be posted to
alt.construction.human-dwelling...)

If you really wanted to be helpful you could have directed zir to a K-12
group.

Amy. put a cork in it. Please!

how you find time to post, while attempting to clone Regan's left over
brains cells, is a true mystery to me...

You might also try search-engining for kiddie topics. Knock-knock jokes,
Sesame Street fan club, that sort of thing. This will probably reward you
with home pages hosted by other children.
