wandering around google's site, but didn't find it. I can find a few fractured
bits of some posts by doing general web searches, but not the ancient bit I just
thought I'd look for.
Not that it's important. And it's actually kind of cool to discover that some
of that stuff actually, perhaps, for real disappears. But I was generally
curious.
In other news, I still haven't checked the functionality of my laundered thumb
drive, but I did find out how to do CPR on a cat today.

Well, hhmmm. If I go to Google, then click on "More" and choose
"groups" I get the ability to search groups. If I search for
soc.singles.moderated, yours is the first hit. I can also see
some of the other recent activity.
If I type in "BoNBoink" I get hits for BoN going back to...like
2001. But, oddly enough, the thread "BoNboink Countdown" shows
up, my post of that title isn't available as part of the thread.
I have to type in "BoNboink countdown" to find it.
Otherwise, I can't find "squirrels don't like garlic bread" or
"I prefer lenny w/o squiggy". Maybe if I tried harder they would
turn up.

I'm sure the proper TLA agencies have copies <g>. And sure, it's
always a WTF moment when I go back and see I did something such
as using "their" instead of "they're".

Well, let it dry out for a week or two if you can afford to. We
had a girl spill water into her laptop last month. It was off.
So, of course she had to turn it on to see if it still worked.
Which it did, but only for several milliseconds, after which it
became an ex-laptop.

I was actually thinking of you today while I was sorting through
some BoN pictures. It seems so long ago now, the only bright spot
I had in "the second consecutive bad summer".

groups.google.com is still there, but it's on life support. (That is, it
has been getting increasingly difficult to find Usenet posts.)

I have noticed recently that finding old stuff is difficult, if not
impossible. I don't know if some of it isn't there, or if it's poorly
indexed. On another froup, I was able to find some of what I wanted
by searching through thread headers by hand when searching on key
words got no hits.

Oh - sorry. Should have specified: I took a first aid / CPR
class for pets. It was pretty interesting, although I think
they should create one for those of us who are already EMTs,
as much of the information was stuff we knew. Still, it was
pretty fascinating. I also now know how to muzzle a dog with
a long bootlace (always muzzle a dog before you work on it,
assuming it's not having difficulty breathing and not vomiting)
and we went through things like heart rates of dogs and cats,
and that ferrets will "grin" at you when you scruff them.

Or until you're sure it's completely dry (a little heat is fine, maybe
110 or so).
But before that, rinsing it with distilled water might help, just in
case the laundry water left something conductive behind.
